| What did you guys bring for gifts to your director. Should you bring something normal or something that represents your country? Any suggestions? |

| I bought a bottle of Crown Royal for my first boss. When my parents came to visit, they gave him Scrabble, which I later stole. |

I brought Crown Royal for my first boss. He just sorta smiled, mumbled a thank you, and then stashed it away somewhere. I found out that he doesn't like whisky.
Next director I had the chance to meet a few times before coming to work for him, so I had a better idea of what to get. Mostly some relics from North Carolina, where he attended college.
A good generic gift would be anything that says "[your home country]" that can be displayed in the office, because that's probably what's going to happen to anything you bring. |

| Wow, I got Crown Royal for my first director, too. I heard later from a KT that he was very pleased and impressed. Did we ever start out on better terms than we parted! |

| I got my director Johnny Walker Black and found out last Thursday that he doesn't drink at all. |

Get him a baseball cap from home. Not all directors drink, so you need to find out if they do. Female director, a nice gift from the in flight duty free book. |

I gave a co-teacher (Korean) in the EPIK program a single bottle Soju.
Lord knows she needed it... |

i know that this sounds kinda lame but when i came over i bought my director a kiwi style magic t shirt.....
i wasnt sure about what wine/spirits or whatever or if my director drinks (which i know from experience he does now)
i think a gesture is the most important thing especially as they are paying your airfare without which i could not have made it over here so quickly |

Having read this forum for years, I'm surprised nobody has suggested a severed horse's head in his bed. |

| You people give the director presents? To me, that's like giving a gift to a mosquito who is sucking your blood. To not get a slap is gift enough. |

I gave myself a bottle of Crown Royal as a gift, and I loved it.
I agree with the generic gift advice...something with your country represented...a coffee mug might work. Also, with female directors, you can't go wrong with some kind of lotion/cream products...try Crabtree & Evelyn. |

Remember what Lord Randall willed his sweetheart?
That might be a good idea. |
