Hello, everyone,
I was trying to go camping close to my city ( I would stay only for tonight) I am looking for a place where I can enjoy the sun. Either beach or waterfall (if any of them are swimable!). I heard about Malipo and all the other beaches in Tean, does anyone know about camping there or elsewhere close to or in Gyeongi do?? Thanks

I'm looking for info about camping also. I came across this website on the National Parks. It seems good, and you can reserve shelters by email... I just don't know where the shelters are located! Anyway, maybe it will help you out.

I think most of the shelters are the variety that you have to hike to (as in backpacking...carrying all your stuff on your back).

I'm not sure about straight camping.

Yeah, I was just trying to find their actual locations in the parks. I found it though. by clicking around enough on the website, you can get a map of the park and the shelter locations. Seems like they're really big though - for 30 people +. I'm looking for something more private. The whole point for me is to get away from other people for a few days! I don't have much camping gear with me though...

Buy a tent and a sleeping bag, find a map and off you go. Camping in Korea is great, I have brought my gear both years I have been here.

Koreans version of camping is staying in a shelter in the mountains, that doesn't do it for me though.

If you get some gear then you need to check the park website, some parks allow tents others don't.

Sometimes I just pack my bag and set off on foot from my place, see a mountain climb it, set up your tent and enjoy. Very peaceful and not a person in site.

Many of the beach areas also allow tents just do your research and find out.

Where's a good place to buy a cheap tent? I just want something that will keep a few mosquitos out.. and maybe the rain.

I tried my local E-Mart and Lottemart and neither had any tents... useless shops..

Are there many specialised camping shops about? and do they have CHEAP tents? or only expensive ones..

I don't think department stores carry them, your better off finding small local joints that sell hiking gear. Some are expensive some are not, depeds on what you want but both are out there.

I have only lived in small cities and I have seen tents for sale, if you like buying on line check out the on line sites they seem to sell pop up tents.....although I am not sure about the quality of such beasts.

You can get a cheap tent at Carrefour, at least at the one in Bundang at Ori station. I have been looking at getting a cheap one too.
