Hey speaking on not being online I also haven't for a few days as well.

First, for Tiger Beer, "We {expats in Korea} do seem to watch out for each other on a continous basis, and there seems to be a need for that as no one else would.".... Yah, and that's a damn good thing too. Anyways, even when I clicked on the Pusanweb website, I was almost surprised to see all the smiley faced white expats mingling with one another like they were all going on dates or something (it's like 'white people hooking up in Korea,' lol), kinda warm to each other.

Also Tiger, in line with the expat condition in Jpn, to some extent it also has to do with external conditions -- the expats are placed in an environment which sort of makes them the way they are as well, which I'm sure it pretty understandable.

Yah Chi-Chi, well that's good to hear you've had some pleasant experiences in Jpn. Well I think it should be said that, the types of points Tiger Beer and I were making about expats in JN were more like "accurate stereotypes" as there are always some moderate exceptions. I think a similar type of stereotype would be to say "Japanese are shy and reserved," which pretty much the whole world would agree on and in a daily life in Japan you would have beaten into your head. However on occasion one will also meet a very talkative and assertive Japanese person(s), hence showing there are exceptions.

Oh yah, I almost forgot to reply to the original post... Chi-chi I thought all the comparison points were quite hilarious and at first thought you copied it from an official source - didn't realize it was yours. Yah funny, however while I was laughing at a number of them, I couldn't quite understand what the direct meanings were for several of the points -- it's kinda like when you hear a joke and you have no idea what is really meant but for some reason you laugh increduously(did i spell that right).... Anyways a great follow up would be that you actually write more extensively on the comparisons rather than just stating one liners, but anyways it was interesting.....
