Hello, everyone,
question: My visa is up on the 10th of August but I want to go to Thailand from the 11th of August to the 25th of August, return to Korea to get my stuff and leave. Do you think I have to go get a visa extension or how does it work?
thank you |

If your visa expires on the 10th & you go to leave on the 11th, you have overstayed & will be subject to hassle & fine. You need to extend. Go to immi before the 10th & show them your ticket out.
You only need to cover yourself for the extra day. When you come back to get your things an automatic tourist visa on entering will work fine. |

Yes, but I thought that we can stay up to 10 days after our visa expires. so, therefore wouldn't I be able to leave to Thailand on the 11th and when I get back pay for the turist visa for the re entrance? |

Quick answers...
you are mistaken and if you follow that plan you will be detained and possibly pay a fine of about 100,000 won for your 1 day of overstay.
IF your ARC expires on the 10th, then you must have either:
A) gone to immigration and get an extension or
B) cleared through passport control at the airport before midnight of the evening of the 10th.
To get your extension (which is free) simply take your passport, ARC and plane ticket to Thailand to the immigration office and they will extend your ARC for you.
If you do NOT get your extension then you must be at the airport on the evening of the 10th. You can go through passport control early or pitstop at the immigration office there and they will take care of you (extend you until your flight time but only within the airport).
When you return to Korea you will (unless you are booked for an overstay) be given a visa waiver stamp for your re-entry.
Depending on your nationality it will be for:
30 days if you are American,
90 days if you are from NZ, Australia, South Africa, the UK or Ireland and
6 months if you are from Canada.
The visa waiver stamp is free. |

Love all your info; it's always concise and to-the-point.
Question for you: Can I get the extension anytime? I'm leaving Korea on October 2, which is one day after my visa will expire. I've already got my outbound ticket. Can I go to immigration now and get the extension, or do I have to wait until it's closer to my departure date? |

You should do it within the last 30 days of your visa. They may refuse you and make you come back again if you are too soon. |

Sorry, I have to bother again:
A friend went to get the extension for 10 days and it was 30 bucks.
Also, I arrived on the 21st, but my visa says it expires on the 10th. As my friend said, they consider the day you arrived (we get a 1 year visa). So I wonder if I should then, just leave to Thailand on the 11th and get the turist entrance on the way back in. |
