Yes, coz then England avoids them in the semi, providing we beat Portugal.

I haven't been able to like Brazil since the 1998 World Cup, when one of the players got hit by the ball on his shin and he fell to the ground clutching his aching head. They just seem like rockstars who cheat.

Let 'em win: let the French be creamed.

And for England, more cudos to beat Brazil than France, whom we've beaten them so many times over the centuries .....

I love Brazil, and hope they win. Argentina would be ok too. So I'm pretty covered... Laughing

It's easier to pick whom to cheer against, now:

Italy = cheap trick cheaters
Ukraine = operatic divers
Portugal = street gang thugs
Brazil = overpaid rockstars.

I'll choose one from:

France, England, Argentina, Germany.

I don't have a favourite but England seems like the darkhorse, so I'm for them. I hope they kick Portugal's butt. It would be good to see England kick Brazil's butt, too. So I hope Brazil makes it one more round.

I'm kind of pulling for Ukraine. They've had a couple of rotten centuries lately and it would be nice for them to have something to cheer about. If not them, then Portugal. The others are just the same tired old crowd.

I'm torn between Ukraine and Argentina (whom I've picked to win in one of the pools). Really the arse is gone out of 'er since Ghana lost.

It is boring if Brazil win again, but I'd rather them than the French.

My order of preference:

1. England (for the Liverpool players only)
2. Argentina
3. Ukraine
4. Brazil
5. Portugal
6. France
7. Germany
8. Italy

Bah, only a couple of centuries, they just hit a dry patch is all. I hear they're now nicely on the road to recovery after starting on a 12-Steppe program.
