I'm interested to hear what your personal motto is while in Korea. An apt phrase, witty aside. Something that enables you to get through each day on this fair Peninsula. Mantras will also be acceptable.
Mine is,"live life moment to moment", which is best encapsulated in the Latin 'Carpe Diem'.
Song lyrics may also be appropriate...., as in the spiritual..."ONE DAY AT AT A TIME, SWEET JESUS".... |

My motto for life in general:
Have as much fun as possible, don't hurt anyone, and do nice things for people around you. |

Beaver,
The random acts of kindness are key. My specialty is buying alcohol for groups of Korean guys who are floored to have their swallies purchased by such an obvious cracker. It can lead to some terrific evenings. Beware everyone: if some 6'1'' blond guy with an obvious brogue sends a swally your way...raise your glass and KNOW that this will be the only time that a Scottish guy buys you a drink...
Average bar tab = 100,000 Won
Memories of an evening = PRICELESS
I abhor cheapness, as well as the "I'm saving for...BLAH...."...
If you get 'taken-out' by the infamous morning vegetable truck, or by a restaurant delivery driver ON the sidewalk/pavement, where is your grand plan now, Warren (Buffet..Berkshire Hathaway, etc,...) ??!!!! |

Love work, hate tyranny, live righteously and don't let your name get too well by the authorities.

Sometimes taking a risk is the safest thing to do.
"What I do is me, for that I came." -- Hopkins
"Be happy while you're living, for you're a long time dead." -- Scottish Proverb
"Hold fast to dreams, for if dreams die, life is a broken winged bird that cannot fly."---Langston Hughes
"You have to expect things of yourself before you can do them."
Michael Jordan,

Get the hell out of here and go straight back home. Friends stink from the second meeting. |

When driving or walking, ALWAYS STOP and look both ways before proceeding through an intersection, especially when making a left turn at a four-way. |

So far its been "expect koreans to do the most unpredictable, idiotic thing imaginable". Its been partly true up to now, and I've generally been well prepared for them.
But I ned some positivity now, so I'm changing over to "Have the time of your life before Anda's predicted Nuclear holocaust happens". |

MOTTO FOR LIFE
"Life is like a book. Too many people spend all their time reading the same page over and over again and don't think too see what else the book has to offer. Try turning the page."
A 73 year old Hungarian woman said that to me once as she was about to head out on a 3 week trek in Nepal.
MOTTO FOR ASIA
Always look both ways before crossing a one way street
MOTTO FOR KOREA
"Wow I didn't know mould could grow there." |
