And, on a more serious level, back in...oh I think it was 1975 or there abouts, we set the record for fastest manned flight with the SR-71 Blackbird. That was more than thirty years ago and no one has been able to top it. You really don't think we've been sleeping since then, do you? God only knows what's been going on away from prying eyes. It's awe-inspiring and terrifying all at the same time.
A little about the Blackbird since this got me thinking of it:

The Anglo-French Concorde is the only aircraft besides the SR-71 that can fly at supersonic speeds for hours at a time. |

Hindi seem to be the only significant ideologic group that have adopted 'animal reincarnation'. Pretty much everyone else finds this absurd.
I see no reason to think animal reincarnation occurs. I see no valid evidence to suggest it does.
I see reason to think metempsychosis can possibly occur. I see valid evidence to suggest it does.
One requires faith. The other requires probability. Which one has more substance?

This is a mean-spirited thread. Because one believes in angels, ergo they're idiots? Someone had to say this. Most (not all) of the great western minds until the enlightenment were believers. They're all fools?

so, because people believe in ghosts, angels, aliens, and reincarnation they're troubled, potentially violent psychotics? Is that what you mean? Hearin' things that aren't there? Having invisible friends? Faith healing? Hmm? Self-proclaimed prophets? Friend of Jesus?
Dude, you should't be afraid of Americans...you should be squatting in your root cellar with a tin-foil hat hiding from your fellow humans. Almost every country has a large contingent of people who believe in crap they couldn't prove or substantiate if they wanted to.
My wife, who's Korean...has never seen a ghost, but claims to be scared of them. Whoever that idiot is that's rattling around in our kitchen in the middle of the night when no one is awake needs to stay dead and BE QUIET. |

It's scary because Americans should simply KNOW BETTER. America is one of the most technologically, scientifically advanced countries in the world, yet most people believe in ghosts and rotund, babyfaced little cupids floating around shooting invisible arrows into lovers' hearts?
It's about time in the cycle for a new "age of reason". |

One has to wonder as history is getting a more detailed look recently just how many of them were actually believers in anything (witchs, vampires, Christianity). Back then, if you weren't with the town people, you were keeping them well lit on a stake (or the Kings edicts or the Church's beliefs). |
