I have been looking into teaching in Korea for many months now and I am hoping to start at the end of August or beginning or September. I am currently working with a few recruiters however they seem to have specific areas that they want to send me, not were I want to go. I have been offered a few positions that I declined because they weren't what I am looking for. I realize that recruiters are sales people trying to get the commission. I was reading an old post on Dave's were the person suggested to ask others on Dave's if their schools were hiring. So I thought I would ask.
If you enjoy your school and they are looking for teacher I would love to hear from you. I am a 23-year-old American female. I am looking for a position teaching high school or above although I would also consider middle school. I do not want to teach elementary though.
I am looking for a position in Seoul that is a good location. I would like to work in central Seoul so that I can go out at night and not have to worry about a long commute home. I graduated from college 1 year ago so I have had some real work experience but not full time teaching (I work at my old University and do international relations for the director and university president). I have a number of volunteer experiences in schools and worked one summer in Turkey at a language school and preschool. I also taught a freshmen class at my University one semester.
I am a very social person and I am concerned about being sent to some suburb or part of Seoul that is far away from other Westerners, nightlife, etc. I also am concerned about how much I can trust a recruiter to send me to a good school. Perhaps it is best to move there first and then look for a job however I am concerned about not having enough money to go over first without having anything lined up. If you have any suggestions or know of a good school hiring could you please let me know? Thanks so much in advance for your help. |

Most high schools will consider you too young, sorry. You're the perfect age for hogwans, though. |

English Channel needs new teachers badly. The drawback is that you'll have to pay for your own flight, wear a lab coat, and work ungodly hours
The upside is that you have your own office and you spend exactly zero minutes of class time disciplining unruly students. |
