I just looked at some of the student's comments about my teaching the last semester and it got me wondering? Are the students or the teachers that are the problem with learning English conversation? It seems that we all bitch about the students here and how bad they are, but after living here over 4 years I realized that it's the teachers that don't want to adjust to the culture and listen to the students. Most of us just come to class, do the absolute minimum and got home. I'm proud of my students comments about me. They were totally unbiased and voluntary. Can you say that you put your absolute best into every class?

From a highly reputed high school where I taught, I got a stack of student reviews one year.
Very mixed. Mostly "handsome teacher." One I respected said, "Thank you for your teaching, but you are not a good teacher."
I had taken over after summer vacation, and they had had two teachers do runners during their first semester.
They were a tough crowd to please, but I always felt limited in what I could do with them.

I've seen several of the kids since, and they're always polite and happy to see me.
Ah, to have had them from Day 1. Could have been my best year in Korea.

So....the comments about you made you wonder if everyone else is pulling their weight, then judge "most" teachers and lump them together with you and "come to class, do the absolute minimum and go home."?

Well, that doesn't speak for me.

Sounds like the comments were kind of cutting. Better luck next time.

Dude, if you want to boast about what a superior English teacher you are, at least learn to write grammatically.
