what kind of price are we looking at for a one way in late august? i would like to get a free stopover in se asia or japan if possible. none of the travel agencies are emailing me back. Is 700,000-800,000 one way a pipe dream?
i'm getting crazy price quotes on the airlines' web sites ... like 2 or 3,000,000 for a one way! |

my flight is mid July, not late August, but I think it cost about 1.4 million...(to NS)
The more stopovers you get, the cheaper it is, I think.
So, I'd say 800 000 is a pipe dream, but 2-3 mil is ridiculous! |

http://www.whypaymore.co.kr/ is showing LA and SanFran at 702,000, Chicago for 925,000 and NewYork for 964,000 + taxes.
Hard to give good advice cause "USA" is kinda a bigish place and rates vary depending on the destination.
If you want to make some pitstops on the way then look at Cathay or EVA air for cheaper prices with layovers. JAL and ANA may also still have a few seats (but I doubt it) cause you are into PEAK and not shoulder travel rates. |

Cheapest flts. I've ever seen are on Singapore Air to San Fran. My brother flew round trip for 750,000 won. Check for specials on the other airlines. |

that sounds about normal for Singapore air in the "off-season". |

I just took a look at www.travelocity.com and www.onetravel.com . Both show the least expensive one way flights between Seoul and Chicago (just picked something near the middle since you didn't say where in the US) at around $1200 US.
Sometimes onetravel has some really good rates, but watch out for weird layovers. |

cheers for the info. the cheapest i could find was through marco polo for 850,000 + tax for a one way on american airlines. still seems expensive, but i guess i didn't think about august being ultra high season. should have purchased a roundtrip back in spring! |
