Hello,
I've been hired by Smoe to start teaching in September. Can anyone with experience with Smoe tell me when I should expect to find out where I will be teaching this upcoming fall. The recruiter said I should know by this week, but still have not heard anything. |

Sorry to tell you this BUT from previous experience it will not be anytime well in advance.......
You could get lucky and it will be a few weeks beforehand. Or unlucky and get driven there the morning of.....
But don't fret , everything's gonna be alright. It's all in your hands, no matter the school.
Cheers,

Congrats, Blue Cheer. I'm in the same boat as you. I've been hired to start at the end of August, and I don't know yet where in Seoul I'll be assigned. According to the agency that I went through, they should be able to tell me "in the middle of July or later." So I've decided just to relax, not get antsy, and keep my fingers crossed that I get placed somewhere decent.
I AM quite curious as to the system that places teachers with schools. Is it a random eeni-meeni-meini-mo situation or is it like the NFL draft or something else??? It would be interesting to find out. |

i'm doing smoe, too. i would imagine, though i don't know for sure, that the school has some preferences they've listed; male or female, country of origin, how much experience, etc. then whoever fits their profile gets the school. and they probably all see pictures of us, so that probably plays into it as well. i did jet a few years ago and i know that my school board at the time never took men, only women. when that school board director left, the next year they got their first man. |
