Although I wasn't raised here, this is the area I lived in before moving to Korea. When I think about home, it's what I think of. It's a tiny little town called Cornelius, in North Carolina. The town consists of one main road that runs parallel to a lake, and of course side-roads and such. It's a very expensive area to live, so the upkeep of all store frontage and roads is pretty. Here are some photos I found using Google's image search.
City Hall.
Aerial view of Lake Norman.
The Blake House. Home turned office building.
Shopping area nearby. It's a lovely place, made lovelier by the countless babes walking around.
Neighboring town that really captures the cozy feel of historic North Carolina.
Dock where my friend's boat/home was.
Typical view from the ground.
Please post pictures of your home. |

Burlington, Ontario, Canada:
A tornado:
And a bengal tiger eating a deer:
That was one school assembly I'll never forget.

Downtown, yep that's almost all of it. Sometimes tumbleweed comes through town.
Yep, we may only have 10,000 people, but we have a theme park. Who doesn't like Christmas all year round?
Typical sunset.
Downtown Boredomville
Yep, we also have a gigantic pencil!
The one ship has been going for over a hundred years. It was used back before there were roads. Yep, we didn't have roads a hundred years ago.
There isn't much else to see unless you want to see more water.

The town of Cornelius looks like it was built by Disneyland. In fact, it bears a resmblance to the Truman Show. |

Mithridates: Ajgeddes: Which cities/villages are those?
Tzechuk: Sorry!
Bigverne: Did you know that Disney actually does have its own city? It's called Celebration. I used to live about 30 minutes away. It was a favorite spot for my friends and I to go and get baked on the way.
Here are some photos.
The Wikipedia site.
The city really is surreal. It's like you walked right onto the set of the Truman Show. Better, really. The streets are immaculate. All yards perfectly tended. The homes make you wish you could come in, have some wine, and eat raisins by the fire while a guy in a turtleneck reads the paper to you. The residential areas have no front-side parking. Instead, the home are arrange in rows of two, with a back alley running between. The kids drive around in "NEV", which is a little battery-powered, egg-shaped vehicle. A super golf cart.
No mega-stores. No strip malls or plazas. Walker-friendly. The downtown area is like an old-timey place, full of cute boutiques with absurd prices. The place even has its own fire station, school, hospital....
Etc. etc. The place represents every WASP's/BoBo's ultimate fantasy.

Townsville? Quite a redundant name, but definitely looks like a place worth visiting. Wow. I bet you jones for that place often. |

Belfast, Northern Ireland.
City Hall
Birthplace of Titanic.......(yeah, we know it sank on first time out )
Where Titanic was made....
The local talent......In N.I. you had better like chubby!
Cave Hill. Very near where I grew up.
Catholic mural (republican that is....not all catholics go for this).
....Protestant mural! (one just like this used to have a caption, "Kill 'em all and let God sort them out! Again, not all protestants go for this kind of thing. Just a minority)
Famous offspring....
George Best
Van Morrison
Alex Higgins
C.S. Lewis (Chronicles of Narnia and other books)
Whew! That was some intensive googling!
You might gather I'm a little proud of my home city but that would not be completely true. I'm definitely not proud of a lot of the stupid and destructive hate that has been shown by a minority of people in my hometown for hundreds of years.
I am however, very proud of the majority of Belfast people who could best be summed up by a quote from someone I can't remember. "On meeting Belfast people they will either be punching you within five minutes or be a lifelong friend within five minutes".
(Actually, I made that up but it's true). |

Qinella, that city I'm from is Calgary. I was going to write it but I was eating at the same time. I don't miss it but apparently it's pretty interesting right now considering the perfect economy.
Here's a picture a bit closer to where I lived, in Dalhousie:
The only coffee shop within 40 minutes walk so I would spend a lot of time there. The first Starbucks established in Calgary. |

Redondo Beach, also known as heaven:
*happy sigh* If someone would be so kind as to tell me what parts of mainland South Korea look like that, I'll know where to look for work. |
