| Okay, guys. Let's settle this debate and put it to rest. Which food do you prefer? Now, I am only putting what I consider to be the 3 main "rival" cuisines in this poll because Korea, Japan, and China are hot rivals and neighbors. We all know that other asian foods like Thai and Vietnamese are wonderful too. |

Of those listed? Hunan and Schezuan Chinese by a mile, but certainly not Hong Kong style (better freedom, crappier food). Some Korean and Japanese stuff is ok too.
Outside NE Asia? Too much to choose from. Indian, Middle Eastern, Thai, Mexican, lots of European and North American, North African stuff, Russian. Damn, now I made myself salivate.  |

| Szechuan and Cantonese by a country mile. Korean has to be the most monotonous and dull cuisine I have ever tried. Apart from a few things, I almost never crave it as its just boiled whatever with a hefty chunk of gochujang thrown in. Japanese I don't mind as it combines artistry and subtle flavours, but lacks the magic of Chinese. |

Even though I really like Korean food it has nothing on Chinese kitchen. This can hardly be a surprise considering all the regional cooking styles they have in China - there is bound to be something for everyone.

Chinese, of course.
Korean and Japanese are both good, but they just don't have as much variety as there is in Chinese food.
Of course, Thai food puts them all to shame. |

I have to go with Japanese because...
1) the nutritional values (and ingrediants) of Chinese foods are questionable.
2) Not enough variety in Korean foods. Everything has red chili paste or red chili powder. And I am getting tired of too much pork. |

Fully agreed. The thing I miss most about Canada is Chinese food. Canadian Chinese food. Ginger beef and Shanghai noodles. |

There's a reason there is not a single Korean restaurant in the city I come from.
Koreans really excelled themselves in coming up with the blandest most boring cuisine in the world.
I have to pick Chinese - not all, but there's so much variety (and so many Westernised versions) that there's something for everybody to love.
I like Japanese, but there's not as much variety. I love what the Japanese do with their food as much as I like eating it. The best and most interesting Japanese food I had was at a restaurant run by people from Osaka - in India. |

I've never been to China, but Chinese food in England is outstanding.
Of what I've had of Japanese food (I've eaten tons of Sushi in my time) that seems fab to me, but I don't know enough about it to comment.
I really like Korean food, but it does get a bit tedious sometimes and also sitting on the floor gets on my nerves. But, really folks? Dwen Jang Jigay with 3 different Kimchis on the side? Magic. Samgyetang - magic.
Worst food in the world? Overpriced North American shlte in Korea. Best food in the world? Spaghetti Bolognese with chili. Sushi. Roast beef, Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, vegetables, gravy, with a pint of warm English ale. Indian Curry. Any of my haphazard pasta dishes. |

I love how so many people living here just drip vitriol when describing Korean food, as if the original North American, Anglo-Culture stuff is any better or more diverse.
For me it's:
1. Japanese: Healthy, sophisticated and aesthetically pleasing. With just enough beer, okonomiyaki and fried delights thrown in to sate your fix when it comes.
2. Korean: Hearty and healthy; earthy and warm. Again, all the detractors who say it's all pork and geochu-jang just aren't getting around enough and taking advantage of all the options.
3. Chinese: Greaseball. Just never understood why people like the stuff. Sweet sauces, batters and fried bamboo, oh my! Balls.
And for the fun of it, world cuisine would, in descending order, run as such:
5. Mediterranean
4. Italian
3. Indian
2. Japanese
1. A table loaded with my mom's pierogies, my aunt's kielbasa, my grandmother's eggplant parmiginana, my cousin's blintzes and my dad's amazing butter-pepper-salt-sugar New Jersey white corn on the cob--which is the exact menu I have placed an advanced order for for the date of my return.
There's no place like home. |
