I can't believe it!! I miss Korea.

I've been home for 3.5 weeks and I'm going mental waiting for my visa. I can't wait to get back on the plane and fly to Korea. I'm on pins and needles. When I left Korea I just wanted to go home. Since, I've been home I've made galbi (that my friends all want a recipe for now) found some Koreans to talk to (that speak English), and relish in detailing all the facts about my new job and my old job to anyone that will ask and listen. I found the first Korean to sell Soju in my city to make all my Canadian friends drink, and oh, I'm just so glad I can come on here and listen and remind myself of how you are all doing.

Thank you!!

Really expensive...$13 a bottle. They advertised it at "Seoul Mart". Yeah, Korean dude had a seoul store in my city. Can u believe it!! I said "oh so expensive!" But, the Korean guy who sells it just bought one of the major bars here and special ordered it in. I think I'm the only person who's bought soju. See what Korea does to you!

At the Seoul Mart, the guy had his mother in law special make gimbap for my korean party and make kimchi. I had to pick it up special order. I tried ordering from the Korean restaurant until I heard the guy was actually chinese and didn't know what the hell gimbap was and tried charging me $6 a roll for it. My friends actually didn't mind any of it.

$17/bottle US last time I was home, at a restaurant, though.
There's a Korean market near Mum's house, but I didn't find soju. Maybe they'll order for me.
Or maybe I'll smuggle a few cases with my household goods shipment. Twisted Evil

How long were you in Korea before you left? Were you planning on staying that long, or was it just a "save as much as possible and stay only a year" thing? Are you suprised that you wanna return?

LOL, you don't have to actually answer. I'm just curious and it's encouraging to read about people who actually LIKE teaching in Korea (I know most people here probably do but they also make large parts of it sound really, really crappy).

I was in Korea for 7 months before the school closed. Had I been there and actually fulfilled the contract I might not feel the same way. I didn't want to come home when I was given the free plane ticket. However, I'm here and I wasn't ready to come home. I love to see all my friends...err. wink wink...especially all the cute Canadian boys I keep near and dear to my heart...but other than that...just as I suspected....haven't had enough ..I need to be really sick of something to want to come back to my craphole province.

Heh, who doesn't miss cheap everything and never really knowing what the hell is going on. I'm back at home and doing all the stupid things I tried to get away from and almost hating every minute of it.....someone give me my visa!!!...2 more days,...2 more days....
