| I was going to leave for Korea in two weeks but I'm thinking of staying home to save more money. I was trying to get to Korea by August because of public school and university hiring windows, but since I prefer working with adults does it matter when I arrive in Korea? Do adult schools have a "schedule" or do they hire at any time of the year? Am I hurting my chances of finding a good position if I stay in the U.S. a few more months? |

If you are going for adult hakwons, then it doesn't matter when you arrive. They hire all year round, with no month being significantly better than others.
Good luck. |

What Ya-ta said. But this is curious:

Most of us find saving money is a far easier proposition here than wherever we're from. |

| I was referring to saving money prior to leaving the U.S. so when I arrive in Korea I'll have more time to search for a job I want. |

| The only thing is that most adult schools want you to start at the beginning of the month. So that would be your only timing issue. |

| From all your posts, it sounds like you've been planning your voyage to Korea for eternity!! Now, you are having doubts about when to come over... I suggest that you just trawl through the job boards from home, select ones you like, and then apply to those directly. You'll probably do just as well going through that approach as if you come here on spec to end up in places like English Channel and Pagoda etc. |

| The busy seasons for adult hogwons are the school vacations, so the easiest times to get hired would be summer (July and August) and winter (January and February). If that's when you get hired, though, expect to hit the ground running. Also, most adult hogwons have month long sessions, so they would want you to begin at the start of the month. |

| When do the universities hire? College students are close enough to adults and that's where I have the majority of my teaching experience. |
