Hi,

I'm wanting to go to JeJu do for my holiday at the end of July (two weeks time). I have spoken to a travel agent who says all the flights are taken but he's going to keep an eye open for any that might free up. I know that many Koreans book lots of flights then cancel them all because there's no deposit required. So I'm hoping I might still have a chance BUT if not, I'll have to take the boat.
Has anyone taken the boat to JeJudo? I think I'd be leaving from Mokpo. Does anyone know what I should be expecting if I have to go this way?

cheers

Just go to the Mokpo Ferry Terminal and buy a ticket for Jeju. The trip takes about 5~6 hours for the regular ferry or about 4~5 hours for the "speed" ferry. Should cost anywhere between KRW 25,000 (third class) to about KRW 100,000 (first class) for the round-trip.

Hotels/motels on Jeju won't be a problem as there is always lots available. We took the ferry from Mokpo last year because flights were booked and it was fine. However, I recommend you get your train tickets and ferry tickets booked now!

Is it relatively easy to book ferry tickets? My Korean is pretty basic so I'm not too sure if I'm capable of doing that unless it's online. Any help would be appreciated.
Btw- thanks for the tips guys!

I'm sure any of the English speaking travel agents would do it for you.
I always get my tickets from Kangsan travel in Busan and Daegu: www.kangsan.com. Check the travel agents sticky too.

But they are not the only option nor am I saying they are the best.
If you aren't in either Busan or Daegu they will courier the tickets to you.

A couple of years ago I went to jeju and had to book in May for the summer vacation as all the decent flights had already sold out....
