For my summer camp, I want my grade 3 & 4 kids to make the hats worn by the Royal Palace Guards at Buckingham Palace. You know the ones; tall, silly-looking, made from bear fur and and laughed at by tourists from all over the world.
I want my kids to make the hats and pretend to be the straight-faced guards, whilst other students have to try and make them laugh. The 'guard' who keeps a straight face for longest is the winner.
This should be fun, but I am completely rubbish at anything art-related. Could anyone give me any tips on how to make the hats, or give me a useful link?

What about this one? All you would need to do is add a chin strap and stick on some fuzzy stuff for the fur?

I love creative lessons, unfortunately I teach high school these days!

Some areas around where I live have lots of garment making factories/rooms. They throw out lots of fabric cut offs such as furry fabrics. If you could just find these they would be great for your hats.
