So beautiful, it inspired George Lucas to do those sterile CGI planets in the Star Wars prequels. Apparently an exclusive resort hangout for rich entertainment types.
Anyone been to? Was it pricy? |

I've been to Locarno on Lake Maggiore, it's between Italy and Switzerland. The area is called Ticino (also a university). It's where the 10% of Swiss who speak Italian live. Yeah, stunningly beautiful. Good pizza. I was there ages ago, yeah, it was expensive then.
There was a failed peace treaty guaranteeing European borders signed there in 1925, the Locarno Treaty.
It's also the lake that Hemingway's hero uses to escape from WWI into neutral Switzerland in a stolen rowboat with a British nurse in his semi-autobiographical "A Farewell to Arms." |
