Had a great day today with my wife, son, and a couple other kids. We drove from Pohang to Uljin (actually, the mine area is quite a few kilos outside of Uljin) for the amethyst festival being held. Adult entry was 10,000 won, while kids were 5,000. You are given a small ziplock bag and then you wade up a stream looking for the purple gem. Amazingly, you can find quite a bit when you look. It's a great day to spend the day with family and/or friends.

| How long does the festival last? Is the mine accessible by public transportation? |

| It goes until August 7, but I'm not sure if there is any public transport out there. If you can get a small group of people to go there together, you'll have a great time. |
