|
|
Right now I have a Canon Video Camera, I've got Canon Elan 7E film camera and a Canon 20D digital camera. I've the lens that came with them plus a 70-300 Canon lens that can be used on both the digital and 35mm camera.
I'm looking at getting a new digital camera. I was looking at the Canon 5D and the between the Nikon 200 or Nikon 2H. I'm a big Canon fan but I don't know which way to go. I've already go the investment in Canon but the Nikon has some pretty nice features. I don't know which way to go.
Plus what 35mm camera should I upgrade to soon?
I can pop down to my local camera shop and talk it over with them. Help!!!!!! |

So you have a 20D and Canon lenses? Why is this even an issue. the 5D is pretty much the best camera on the market right now, for half the price of the 1D Mark II. How is this even a debate? |

I've found this site to be quite informative when purchasing my last two cameras: http://dpreview.com/ |

nikon is really good feature wise and is not too expensive
canon is also good and slightly more compact and more aesthetically pleasing (if that is an issue) |

He is talking about getting a real camera not one of those compact pieces of shit.
And what features are you talking about? |

Canon EOS 5D would be my choice right now. A definite upgrade from the 20D (5D is full frame), and faaaaaaar more affordable than the EOS 1D Mk II (the price of which will turn your hair grey). I asked around a few shops in Namdaemun a few months ago and the 5D can be had for about 3 mil. Pretty reasonable if you ask me.
Still, if I were looking to spend money on gear I would upgrade my lenses first and go for a body upgrade last. I dunno what glass you're using but remember that at the end of the day, a camera body is just a light-proof box. Your images are only as good as the glass you shoot through. |

If you've already got Canon lenses, definitely buy the Canon.
And Jinju's right, the Cannon 5D's the best nonprofessional camera on the market now. |

Its a pro camera. Full frame, great camera. Only the Mark II beats it but thats overpriced. 5D is by far the best priced camra on the market for what it offers. Id say undepriced. |

Can I pitch in on this thread and ask if I should buy a new digital camera now (while I'm still in the UK) or wait until I get to Korea (next month)? I'm looking to get a nice fancy SLR type Nikon, lenses and all, so just wondering if it would be cheaper in Korea, or not much difference. Thanks. |

i personally have the olympus mju 500 which is an awesome camera
its very easy to use and i got it back in nz...at the duty free store they had it on sale and it was cheaper for me to buy it in nz than in korea
i only need certain functions like all weather and a minimum of 500 mega pixels as well as panorama hence my decision for olympus (they are also really easy to use)
i have no idea when it comes to very advance features...maybe jinju is the person to ask for more detailed and feature specific advice...

I own both. Canon green colors are a bit off to me, and ruin the photos. Nikon colors look better.
A year ago, I would have chosen Canon, but now I'd go Nikon. |
