Do you think that the sale of cigarettes should be banned considering that half those who smoke cigarettes reguarly will die as a result? I recently saw an advert that is broadcast in Australia which depicts a female mouth cancer patient. Should we not just go the whole way and ban them?

ofciourse they should be banned!!! should be illegal like Marijuana is..
now of course many people will smoke it.. but it will be an illegal substance so it will be smoked behind closed doors..
fact is governments dont wont you to quit.. they wont you to get hooked and buy a pack for the next 50 years, then the government will take the last of your savings for cancer treatment at their hospitals which they built from your cigerette tax money.. so you are laying their on your death bed and the doctors say you will need thousands of dollars for treatment, of course you are in regret for smoking your whole life, standing over you are your family crying, hearing the news. "im sorry your father has cancer and he is in the 3rd stage!"
"The chances of your husband making it is going to slim.. but I suggest we get him into chemo right away" just make the check out to Seoul hospital!!

To the government you are nothing more than a statistic a number on a chart of millions who died that year... but to a son or a wife you are everything...
its a drug which destroys life, as much as alcohol can, or A class drugs can. problem is tobacco is the drug which is legal and everyone does it so people think its harmless.. sure its harmless NOW!!
its the drug that takes 50 years to catch up on you and then HIT you with the biggest tone of bricks you could imagine!! but in the process kept the governments making money and the doctors working..

Unlike alcohol you rarely hear about people who smoke cigarettes in moderation. There are alcoholics, but there are far more people who are fully in control of their drinking habits. With cigarettes it's usually none at all or twenty a day. Fatty food is also nowhere near as addictive as nicotine. I might have some french fries from Mcdees once a month but it's never reached the stage where I can't walk past burger king without having junk food. I also don't crave for junk food when I see other people eat it.

I am a non-smoker and have never cared for smoking (although I find the aroma of fresh pipe tobacco nice). However, as mentioned above, prohibition was never any good, except for bootleggers/smugglers. It's much better to keep it legal. People have to make the personal choice to quit (or not start).
