Hello. I have sent my degree to a school that I had later declined. Yes, the real paper. Is there a way to get it back? Or any tactics that I may be able to use? Thanks!

If you can't get it back from the school you sent it to, your university should be able to print a new one for a small fee...at least mine did...

Do you have any friends here who can go pick it up for you? I am assuming you are not in Korea. Am I correct? This is your degree! Man oh man...get it back.

You can pay your university to fork over a new one, but it isn't going to be for a 'small' fee in my opinion. Probably around $100.00.

Regardless; $100.00 isn't really that much I guess, but do you think the institute won't use your degree for their own purposes?

Where is the school? What's the name? If it's close I'll go and ask for it myself! Sorry you are in such a position. Did you keep a reciept of courier? Airmail, express delivery?? I hope you kept proof that it was indeed mailed to the person(s) it was delivered to.

Next time get a notarized copy of your degree at an Embassy. I brought my original here with me. I am lucky I got it back! It was a bit of an argument to have it back in my posession. When they asked why I wanted it I said because it cost me about $20,000.00!, and it's MINE.
They need to see it? Fine. They can even touch it, but they do not need to keep it in their office. They need proof I have a degree, and I have to prove it. It stays at my place.

A university degree is not an irreplaceable piece of paper. I did a quick search and found universities offering duplicates at really reasonable rates :

For some reason, my university after graduation kept sending me copies of my degree.I think I still have 4 now, and at least one was sacrificed to the gods of Korean immigration.

Well, where I graduated (in Ontario, Canada), it cost a lot more than $20.00 U.S.! It is close to one-hundred. It was $75.00 about 3 or 4 years ago. I can't see the price going down any. Tuition certainly hasn't .

If it's gone it can be replaced, fortunately, whatever the price.

It can take a long time. My uni was willing to return it for only $60 U.S. or so, but they said it would take at least 8 weeks to replace it.

Every university is different, but the bottom line is don't give it up if at all possible.

Yup. Me, I'd hate to either pass up an offer I want or work illegally for two months just because my diploma got thrown out accidentally or ended up in the bottom of someone's desk drawer ... last time I went to the Korean consulate in SF to have a notarized copy made I said what the hey and got acouple of spares. Added $10 to that day's budget, and bought me peace of mind.
