Yesterday I spilled water on my Dell Latitude's keyboard. A--hole that I am, I didn't turn it off right away, but panicked for a few minutes instead; tipped it to drain it, toweled any surface water and after about 10 minutes, came to my senses and turned the damn thing off. There were no external signs of frying (smoke, sparks, smells, whatnot) but select keys on my keyboard stopped working, I couldn't open programs from the desktop (only the menu), and it started going nuts if any windows were opened (but not if they were minimized). I gave it about 24 hours and turned it on again. I'm getting a message at start up about reconfiguration or something and the keyboard's still not working, but everything else seemed better (occasional noises and issues, but better). I tried a system restore and then turned it off. That was yesterday and I'm terrified to touch it again; half because I think leaving it off for a while will be beneficial and half because if I turn it on and it doesn't work, I may jump out a window.
Bottom line, can anyone recommend a good, English speaking, computer doc in the Daegu area? There's a little PC Clinic by my house, but I don't think anyone there can speak English and I really don't want to mess around with language barriers with something like this.
And if anyone has any experience with this issue or any advice to give, that would be much appreciated as well. |

Exact same thing happened to my friend's TG/Sampo notebook, except it was a beer (worse).
She couldn't get it to turn on for an entire week, and she took it to a store which quoted her 900,000 won to fix it. She didn't bother. On a whim 2 weeks later, she tried it and it worked! But the keyboard was still screwey.
We plugged in a cheap 5,000 won external USB keyboard until she saved up enough money to get it fixed (it cost her 200,000 won to fix, but she also had a wifi problem, so it might cost you a bit less).
So let it dry for a week, and try it. If it doesn't work, wait another week. Make sure it's open for drying. Might help to have a fan blowing on it strongly during that time, as well. |

| I would recommend taking it apart and thoroughly cleaning it. Seriously. |

Seconded.
As long as you dry it as soon as possible, the laptop can still work surprisingly. |
