Personal data of over 95,000 S. Koreans leaked via Google
SEOUL, Aug. 1 (Yonhap) -- The personal data of around 95,000 South Koreans remains vulnerable to abuse and misuse at Google Inc., the world's largest online search engine, the Information Ministry said Tuesday.
According to the ministry, which conducted the screening for a week from July 24, the citizen registration numbers of 95,219 people were found to have been compromised on Google's database.

And they say that eliminating anonymity will solve all their problems. Maybe they should just thank Google.
EDIT: My woman just saw this on the news, and she's freaking out right now. |

I just Googled my ID number and it was safe: provided me with the arithmatic calculation of the subraction of the two numbers. Hell, I didn't even know Google did that!
Any more details on this situation? |

Yeah I read that as well. It seems Google isn't responding very well to the problem. |

I don't quite understand why Google is at fault. Doesn't Google just indiscriminately scour the net for all data that is available and then catalogue it? Where did they go wrong exactly? How did they cross the line if this data was free for viewing in the first place? Surely Google can't get into password protected zones, can it? |

Google is not at fault.
Google is a tool that collects information on the Web, if the construction of a website is done badly, ANYONE could get taht information, including Google.
quit funny. |
