The Korea Herald has humiliated ESL Cafe with its stories and the absence of any response from the moderators or Dave, beyond locking threads, abusing posters and trying to cover the whole thing up, is damning.

Slanderous? I think you mean libellous. Slander is spoken defamation and that's not what the Korea Herald is guilty of. At least try getting your information correct before trolling. But just out of interest, what part and of which Herald story is defamatory?

There's a significant number of posters here who do a fine job of embarrassing themselves and this board - and by extension, the entire teaching / ESL community - without any additional help from the Korea Herald.

I just don't understand why people are making a big deal about a stupid board and people's opinions. It's the fucking internet. If you don't like it; don't fucking read it. People have pissed me off here loads of times, and I didn't go running to the government demanding it be shut down. I just left for awhile.

I think the real question people should be asking is why does the Korean government, a democracy, want to shut down or control an open forum where people can express their opinions about whatever and whomever they damn well please.

The Korea Herald is just trying to create a controversy because it will sell more papers, and the L&C editor has a Woodward-Bernstein complex.

And Tony, wringing your hands and screaming "FIRE!" doesn't make you look more mature or in tune with the culture or whatever you're trying to do here. It just makes you look like Chris Gelkin's butt monkey.

You know, I thought you had made a lot of good points until I read this last papragraph. I resent that insult and can assure you that in no way am I Chris Gelkin's "butt monkey". As I have written earlier, I think the guy is a loser, but I do support his decision to publish stories which are critical of our site. Why? Because a lot of what was written in those pieces was true. But don't take my word for it, a lot of other posters here agree, as evidenced by Canuckistan's decisions to lock threads on the subject which were not sticking to the anti-Korea Herald rant mantra.

Damn it! I don't care if I reveal my identity in doing this; but this guy is using my first name and initial of my last name and posting the most ridiculous troll bait I've ever seen on here. I have nothing to do with the KH newspaper, but work for a subsiduary company - getting weird looks from colleagues. HELP??!!
