Never went out proper in Manchester, but personally, Birmingham was always a cracking night out....and the worst hands down was Bracknell (this is England, by the way)

For South Carolina, Charleston is a great city. The girl to guy ratio at College of Charleston was 8:1 at one point. Plenty of bars and has that nice breeze since its on the coast. All sorts of places depending on your age and style.

The worst place to go out in South Carolina besides all the small backwoods towns would be either Myrtle Beach or Hilton Head. Myrtle Beach is a dirty tourist trap. Hilton Head is full of the rich and wanna-be rich. Both usually have a stick up their ass.

It's got to be South Beach, Miami.
Key West is awesome as well, not so much for trendy places but for a relaxed, chilled out time.

Best has to be Brighton by a mile, although Manchester is a close second, also Aberystwyth in mid wales is nice ,
The worst Wolverhampton or Swansea, although Stoke was pretty bad.

Best: (from my experience) New York.
Worst: (again from my experience) East Texas, most of it is "dry", as in alcohol is not available.

I went to college in Aberystwyth. Was alright apart from the Welsh.
Although my vote is still South Beach in Miami.

From what I've heard, St.John's is pretty good, all the Newfs doing it up right.

The worst? Regina, unless you like coke-heads, meth-heads, mullets on girls, boarded-up windows, and a playlist that includes AC-DC and G'N'R all night long.

In Arizona?

Tempe is the best for a night on the town. Near ASU.

Pretty much *anywhere* else is going to suck.

I think I have to agree with that.

I live/lived in Derby (home) and commuted to Nottingham for Uni and would go out with my ex in Notts. They were good nights out.. but why did Black Orchid have to move out of town?!

Anyway, my best friend went to Keele University and lived in Stoke and O.M.G. what an abysmal place that was!

Still, I think London isn't all that fabulous either, unless you have lots of money.. I mean, when I was dating my ex (the one after the Nottingham ex) who lived in London, luckily he was working and he would pay for everything (chivalry still existed, I guess) cos he was a bit older than me and knew I was a poor student but heck, I would never pay 25 or something to just get into the Ministry of Sound... I mean, why?! A tequila cost 7 quid?! No thanks.

Can't argue with that though it has been a long time. I spent, what, the better part of a decade in that town. The number of bars per capita is a lot. The downtown is mostly just bars. Somewhere around ten percent of the town go to the university, so there are people from all over the lightly populated province, as well as a few from other parts of Canada and other countries.

Pretty damn good place to go out and get sloshed I dare say, and I do miss those good old house and kitchen parties.

(Strangely I slipped into Newfie speak writing this.)

LOL... just looked up "sloshed" ... there is a www.sloshed.co.uk site, apparently nothing but pictures of alcohol.

From some website:

St John's > Recreation > Nightlife >
St John's Rocks!! It has been a port city for about 500 years, with all the requisite attractions and distractions that goes with it. St John's is said to have more drinking places per square kilometer than any other city in North America The waterfront remains the social centre, home of lively bars that feature the pick of Newfoundland folk music - the best single reason for visiting.

St. John's ethnic composition of English and Irish ancestry is reflected in its nightlife with the predominance of pubs and places for live music. George Street in the heart of downtown St. John's is the place to find old world pubs. Along the length of George Street you'll find some 20 pubs and bars featuring Irish, country, dance, rock and roll and traditional music with the party going until 3 am on Friday nights. No matter what you are in the mood for, you are sure to find some entertainment that strikes your fancy!

Each summer at the end of July, the bars of George Street host a week-long party with a street festival featuring lots of good folk music. The best of the island's dozen folk festivals, the Newfoundland and Labrador Folk Festival, is held in Bannerman Park in St John's on the first weekend in August. If you're dining in, or celebrating at home, pick up a bottle of wine - or something else - at one of St. John's many liquor and wine stores .
