With the wife and girl in Canada, I'm feeling cooped up and restless.

Anyone up for some beer, basketball, or a combination of the two?

That sure sounds nice... I'd join you if it weren't for the mountains of work I gotta do tonight. Evil or Very Mad

Normally not a big beer drinker, but in this weather... beautiful. Hope you enjoy your evening.

If anyone's interested in drinks on Thursday (or Sat.), first round's on me.

(Please, someone save me from my boredom.)

Near E-Mart. But Bundang's not that big; I'm willing to venture out of my 'hood.

Hi, I'm sorry, I don't think I quite understand the question.

A Korean friend told me that in Chongja-dong near the Tan Stream, there's a "cafe alley" so called,to have brunch and sit outside for coffee, beer and what not.Bakeries too...

I was wondering if anyone has been there and what its like.ie How Korean or western it is.

All right, yes, I was wondering if that's what you meant.

The main street in Jeongja is lined with little cafes. Some of them are coffee/cake, a lot are wine/cake. There is a Hawaiian burger place that my meat-eating friends tell me has great burgers, despite the cost. There is one cafe, a little outside the main strip, that looks like a rainforest inside due to all the trees and plants. Also, it has a huge, friendly white dog who loves attention. Smile

I like this area. Actually, if I could choose to (and afford it), I would live in Jeongja. Not only does it have two shops that I like to go to (Huckleberry farms and I Love Cookie), it is quiet and shady and reminds me of Boston. You'll see a lot of late twenty-something childless couples sitting and enjoying a glass of wine or coffee. It is the most expensive area of Bundang, so I hear, so the prices aren't cheap, but it's relaxing and a nice quiet place to spend time with a friend. The street is also good for walking along after dinner.

Nearby there is a Holly's coffee, Starbucks, Holy Chow (a good Chinese place), and along the street there is a Kraze burger, a Subway sandwich shop, and several Italian restaurants that I have not tried. I wouldn't call this a particularly "western" area, but I do feel at home there.

I recommend ALOHA a cafe/burger spot next to Subway sandwiches...the burgers are really damn good...you can sit in or out, and the owner is really nice.

You should stop by the Dublin Irish Bar Bundang . It's really taken off in the past six months , week-ends are great and also Wednesday nights ( live mike night ) Lots of English teachers hang out there, the music is very good too, none of the sentimental cxxp common in other places. I hear there is an English teachers party night on Friday, 'not sure though I am out of town for a week. You can call the bar on 031-7087942 or Joe the owner, an Irish guy on 010 3124 7773. Take Exit 6 from Samsung Plaza, pass KFC thirty metres later Dublin is on your left second floor. Have fun!
