Realize it's only pre-season and all, but that was my bright ray of sunshine on this otherwise bleak and cloudy post-holiday Tuesday...

Originally I was biatchin about the shootouts, but at this particular moment I am quite fond of them... Haha.

Yeah, I was unsure about them, but they will add some much needed excitement to the game.

You an Oilers fan?

You could say so...

Not a big Edmonton fan, though.

Scoring is up dramatically in the pre-season. Hopefully this trend sticks around for the regular season. I've had my fill of boring defensive hockey.

Yeah, Edmonton is a bit drab, but it is home. I do miss the parks.

I see Sean Avery is shooting off his mouth again. This time again French NHL players.

Quote:
When asked about the blueliner's hit on Kings teammate Jeremy Roenick in a preseason game Sunday night, Avery did not hold back digging into Gauthier and Quebec-born NHLers.

"I think it was a clean hit," he explained on Tuesday. "I think it was typical of most French guys in our league with a visor on, running around and playing tough and not back anything up."

What's up with all of the injuries?

Blackburn, Forsberg, Hatcher, Tcachuck, Weight, Yzerman. And those are off the top of my head. There's going to be a lot of empty roster spots opening night.

Any guesses who this might be?

Hmmmmmm ... interesting way of handling the case. Is this the standard procedure?

Former NHL Enforcer Sought
In Assault On Security Guard At B.C. Hotel

Wed Aug 9, 3:26 PM

VERNON, B.C. (CP) - A former NHL enforcer is accused of being involved in an assault at a Vernon motel Tuesday night.

Police were called to the Best Western Vernon Lodge after a security guard said he'd been attacked while asking a hotel guest keep the noise down.

The guard says he was pulled into the suspect's room and beaten in the face before the man fled on foot.

The RCMP found the suspect's girlfriend and children in the room and determined he was an enforcer in the NHL who played in the late 1990's.

Police say they will get an arrest warrant for the man if he doesn't surrender.

His name won't be released until he is charged.

Meh. The Oilers lost which is a shame but Ovechkin won rookie of the year. I am looking forward to next season already. Go Caps! Wink
