I didn't read it all, but I assume it helps my point?

cl...hold on to the cash that is buring a hole in your pocket and roll up your tongue for another month. Save the little bit more cash (yes, a little...think about it spread over time) and get a nice chip.

If you buy that I will come to your home, hit you on the head with a blunt, heavy object and take it. Wink

I didn't convince you mate...the fact speak for themselves. CoreDuo is a nice chip.

Isn't the major problem with dual core the fact that most software cannot use the improved efficiency?

As such the promised performance can not be achieved?

That's mostly right, but there will be a load of software coming out once Vista is released.

For now, I would just go for Hyper Threading (HT), chipsets instead of Dual Core, though thinking ahead and having Dual Core doesn't hurt either. On the other hand, why not just take the full plunge and get an Intel Pentium Extreme chipset (840xe, 955xe, 965xe), that implements both Dual Core and HT technology and built in virus protection. I would love to be able to do that!

Yep. I read it all about it. I won't buy anything but the 2 duo core. That looks like what I am going to get.

Looks like you could be heading for a rig closer to 2mill than 1mill which was your starting point!!!

Anyway, 1.7-2.0 mill isn't ridiculous for a nice rig. I don't mind spending a lot on my computer because I use it so much here in Korea.

I'm surprised some Core Duo chips are only around 250 USD. That's aggresive pricing.

Monitor?

I have little experience of the new breed of monitors. I think mine is great, but I can't compare it to anything else except the crappy Anypro LCD's used in work.

I got the Viewsonic VX2025wm widescreen. In Yongsan for 400,000. I bought it mostly because of overwhelming good reviews on Newegg.com and Tomshardware.com.

I did it. Just check out the specs. on my other thread. Now I have to read up on monitors and choose one.
