I wish this thread had had a poll.

Despite all the to'ing and fro'ing on various games I'd go for HL2ep1 to be the best FPS right now (i.e. within the last year), without a doubt.

In the dark basement waiting for the elevator to arrive, with Zombine suicide bombers charging in from all directions?
Or in the parking garage, trying to cover the antlion holes while antlions, zombies, & Zombines battle each other and you?
Those are destined to be classic game moments, IMO.

It's really all multiplayer, yeah. The nice thing is that it's modern warfare instead of like WWII or the like, and on an enormous scale. You can jump into vehicles ranging from jeeps to tanks to black hawk helicopters and fighter jets. Really interesting player strategy combinations.

- Halo

Well, did you read the thread topic? OP is asking about current titles. But you could start a "Best FPS of all time" thread and make the poll as you see fit.

What the hell is your problem?

OP never said anything about current titles. Rolling Eyes

What the hell is my problem? Well, I don't think that Serious Sam and Duke Nuke em have any place on a thread that asked for the best FPS "right now".

So, I guess it's right back at you- what the hell is your problem?
You don't know what 'right now' means?
Am I wrong to think that Serious Sam and Duke Nuke em are not "right now" (or, as some might say, current?)
Could I find them in a store on the shelf next to Oblivion or Prey or FEAR? Doubtful.

And why so hurt by my post? It's not like I killed your puppy or anything; I thought I was pointing out the obvious and had a good suggestion
(evidently Cubanlord thought it was a good suggestion too).

WTF?

A lot of the games listed on the poll aren't even "current" games. Games like Wolfenstein, Call of duty 1/2, SOF2 still rake in thousands of servers and online players, are they considered some of the best or are they not current enough for you? Rolling Eyes

So right back at you, why don't you stop acting like a 13 year old asshole, find a corner and start your own single player thread.

Exactly- not current enough for me.
Maybe I'm wrong but I think Cuban Lord wanted to know about new games. And you can go back to fragging newbies over and over again on the Q3 levels you memorized and played a thousand times.

But yes, Duke Nuke em was a great game no doubt about it.

Well, I gotta say that Q3:TA is far from "right now", but anyways...no fighting guys, this is tech! We all have problems.... Razz

I had to vote for Q3:TA (Q3 as well), as I just can't see the replay value in most modern games.

Everyone on this board always OOOhhhs and AAAhhhs over Half Life 2, which was fun the first time around, but no one ever mentions Halo 2, which is ROCK SOLID, has AWESOME cutscenes, and the best AI of any FPS, bar none. I just played through it again on the "legendary" skill level, and you just can't handle the truth. No matter how many times you've played through the game, it will eat your lunch and s**t it back out into your mouth like a German scheisse porn.

It's an XBOX port. This thread is for purists.

lol. True.

Hey mack the knife, you say that this has the best A.I. ever? Shocked I admit, it's one to contend with. However, go play F.E.A.R. on medium or hard then come back and talk to me (currently through interval 8 on hard). Man these guys are relentless!
