Hey gang,

Just read that Japan plans to colonize the moon and have a settlement there by 2030.

What do you guys think?

Realistic goal?

Doable?

Will other nations get in on this?

Just as long as they do it peacefully and don't try to assimilate all the moon people.

Well, it's about time. Man, in the sixties around the Saturn missions to land on the moon (Apollo) I remember seeing in our elementary school library elaborate artists depictions in books showing moon bases and moon crawlers, mining operations and shuttles hauling ore.

But then you read about how some of the Apollo astronauts reported strange lights and had the feeling they were being warned off. Yeah, that's strange, probably flakey. Those Apollo missions were so expensive and so amazing but then manned trips to the moon just ceased.

Was it to race with the Russians and prove the U.S. could do it? A space pissing contest and once that was accomplished game over?

How about a link(s) to some Japanese moonbase info.....

How about the moon landing never happened? [So I doubt the Japanese will not be the first to do something that's never been done before...]

I'm leaning that way...

...six in all that never happened; bwahaha.

Seriously, how could anyone think the Apollo missions were faked? Same folks who visualize Japanese faking a 'moonbase'? 'Regard now as Astronaut Kawasaki and Moonbase Supervisor Astronaut Suzuki pause for toothpaste tube sushi while they inspect 'Crater Yamaha'(rmm-rmm!), their Hyabusa Quadrunner stuck in...green cheese!'.

That's right. It was all a western conspiracy and they stole the technology from Japan or Korea or someplace. And you know what else is ridiculous? Those round eyes even say they have "flying birds" made of "metal" which carry "passengers" to "places across the ocean". And that they have "talking machines" and "boxes that capture your image". Pfff! I mean, c'mon, everybody knows that's just hype.

GoshiwonGuy, are you just joking around Wink Seriously, I am not the biggest fan of the government and believe they keep lots of things hidden (like experimental anal probing while dressed up in weird costumes), but while I can't be 100% sure the moon landings happened, I am pretty darn sure. I would have to see evidence that it didn't.

I don't care who gets to the moon first just as long as it's not the Chinese. We don't need communists colonizing the moon Shocked

You don't think I was off-base depicting fumbling Japanese moon-nauts wearing thick glasses? I think the Japanese would make super astronauts!

Retired sumo wrestlers, in that lower gravity, could bring their aggression, passion, and intensity to moon exploration! (heaving huge boulders, building stone root cellars and pachinko parlours....). It would spillover and be good for the Korean economy also.....'moon hagwons'.

Yes, 'moon hagwons' Idea

Retired Sumo wrestler sitting around watching the boobtube, feet up on a stool because they hurt from hauling around all that muscle and 'fighting momentum ballast' (lard). His poptart little girlfriend says get out of the house and he says, 'damn, my feet hurt'. Then she suggests he emmigrate to the moon to work on the rockpile. Reduced gravity and relief from footpain! Luna Sumo Silvertown Engineering Inc....
