Say you are in your home country, and you can bring back something of some sort to Korea for your second run. I'm thinking particular food items, books, soaps, something you can't find in Korea but can get in the West. What would you bring?

I would hit a used book store, and fill up my weight limit with novels.

Vegemite, real cheese, my favourite books, more photos of home, real chocolate, creamed clover honey and deodorant. That's what I brought back this time.

Before I visited the States 2 years ago, I made a long list. Here is what I brought back: Jello Instant pudding, Enchilada sauce and taco seasoning, flan mix, pinto beans, Reeses Peanut butter cups and various other candy, a ton of deodorant, clear eyes, and 25 kilos of clothing.
I filled two duffle bags completely, each was about 25 kg. It was a task to bring it over, but I had a good year supply of everything. They best way to get it back is to use two large duffle bags that you can just swing over each shoulder.

The above poster mentioned cheese. Are we allowed to bring back dairy products on the plane? Or did you kind of smuggle it?

I've done it twice so far. Once I carried it in in my carry-on luggage when I came via Thailand, but the cheese was a bit soft after the heat of Chiang Mai. I can't remember if I declared it, but it shouldn't be a problem if it's still sealed. The next time I posted it to myself from home. Both times it tasted as good as new Very Happy

Multi-vitamins, both for myself and for gifts. Taking vitamins is a trend just starting to take off in Korea, and they cost a fortune, if you can find them at all. I always stock up when I'm home.

Honey
Spices
All the stuff I buy at the Dollar Store.

If you're from the US, you can send an M-Box full of books for $1 / pound (minumum $10). Takes a couple of months, but well worth it. Maybe other countries have the same thing.

Things that are hard to find at a decent price:

Antihistamines
Vitamins
Vanilla extract
Spices (burrito mix, saffron, etc.)

Other stuff can be found here if you shop around, and at reasonable prices as well.
