On an aside - i was wandering through emart yesterday, as you do, and I saw a water purification jug - would it do the trick? If i bought one of these, it wasn't too much either, about 45,000 won. So if i bought one of these, would it remove all the nastyness from the water? I hate buying water, as at home it is free. |

On a MORE SERIOUS note...the problem with Korean tap water isn't the bacteria, it's the heavy metals (no, stupid, not the bands, things like lead!)
Drinking tap water is fine now and then, but if you're a big water drinker, probably the bottle stuff is better. We REALLY know that it comes from Cheju-do...right??? |

Just a quick interesting link for all the people who replied that they'd never touch the filthy tap water and would stick to the chrystal clear Cheju-do mineral stuff instead.

And yeah I know it's India but can you guys really tell me that you think the same couldn't happen in Korea. |

Hey William,
There is however a theory that drinking the tap water here will make you grow a third ear...on your back. Still can't be swayed???? |
Give me gamma radiation powered green rage, and maybe I'll go for it. |
How about a steroid induced shake with rage epileptic-like seizure instead? |
Call me Scott Steiner and you have a deal. |

I have always had this theory that they bottle Coke, Pocari Sweat, etc. with tap water to save money. I wonder if it would be the same with bottled water, just to save a few bob?
I have also noticed that in restaurants when they cook, it is with tap water. |

Here's a slightly better and more up to date article. This one applies more to soft drinks than bottled water though.

It's a sad, sad day when you start to fear getting typhoid or hepatitis from drinking coke. I hope someone goes to hell over this one. |

I happen to know that Hojucandy drinks from the public water fountains in Bombay. It's all relative. Mostly, it's just a matter of your gut adjusting to a new plethora of bacteria.
You'll be fine. Drink up.

Hoju also has no meat on his bones for bacteria to eat. He's safe. |

I have a solution for those who don't wanna drink the tap water but are too cheap to buy... just bring a bottle to your hagwon and fill it up every day at work. I usually have a spare bottle and that daily re-fill bottle and it works great for me |

Works with banks and shops also. Most of the time people just stare at you like you're a freak when you fill up a 2lt. water bottle in their shop without buying anything but no one ever seems to say a word. |

For over a year I've used tap water in cooking and for my daily cups of tea.
I just found out my Korean neighbour never uses the tap water, even for that
There may be something I need to know. Most living organisms are killed by the heat, but not metals.
Well, I now have the topic of the day for my classes: Tap water, does your family or don't they? |
