Many thanks to those who posted on my thread on "Park Chung Hee". Now can you shed some light on these two figures: Kim Il Sung and Kim Jung Il? What do people think of them?

I'll start the same way: they're both bastards.

Kim Il Sung was the devil, and Kim Jong Il is his spawn.

By the way, shouldn't this troll be in on 'off-topic' board?

Whoa. Maybe you're having a really bad day, but I find your comments unnecessary and kind of rude.

I know to use a "search enging and/or library", and I know how to "form my own opinion". I just wanted to hear the opinions of the people on this board. Is that OK with you?

Geez...

Kim Il sung: The Great Leader. Built an impressive career on forcing an entire country to listen to his heroic war stories for 50 years. Later expanded the repertoire to give himself or his ancestors credit for major events in Korean history, such as the burning of missionary boats and the invention of kimchee. Despite the godforsaken mess he left his people in, it probably IS true that he loved Korea.

Kim jong il: The Dear Leader. Best argument yet against hereditary leadership. "Disco Maoist" wardrobe and "old perv" hairdo serve as fitting sartorial metaphors for the state of the North's economy. Lacking the old man's war record, nonetheless found time to arrange the bombing of a South Korean civilian airliner in order to deter attendance at the Seoul Olympics. Claims to descent from Tangun, the founding god of Korea, not generally accepted by historians. An avid internet buff who likes to read about himself, it is quite possible that he is viewing this post right now. A true genius and a great humanitarian.
