How long does it take to get from Ansan to Seoul (say, Sadang or Shinyongsan) on the subway?

Ansan to Seoul:

Line 4: Dongogae to Oido(Ansan).
Stops at: Dongdaemoon, Chongmuro, Seoul Station (Line 1), Ichon, Isu (Line 7), Sadang (Line 2), Kumjong (Line 1), then to Oido.
From Seoul Station to Kumjong takes about 45 minutes. No transfer, straight to Ansan.

Line 1: Suwon to Cheonyangni.
Stops at: Dongdaemoon (Line 4), Seoul Station (Line 4), Yongsan, Singil, Guro.
Take Line 1 to Suwon. Transfer to Line 4 at Kumjong. Transfer time takes a few minutes but same travel time.

Here in Ansan, we have 31 flavors of smog for your coughing pleasure.

From Handaeap station to Sadang: 45 minutes on the #4.

From Sadang to Handaeap: About 3 hours while you wait for a train that goes further south than Sanbon.

I didn't know you were in Ansan, Beck. There's also another poster on the board from Ansan as well but their name jogs my memory.

C'mon guys. Ansan isn't that bad.

You're on a subway line and 30 minutes from the sea.

The pollution isn't as Beckerson described it. You can breathe the air here, no problem.

Ansan is a manufacturing city which accounts for many factories in the area, but Ansan is also a progressive city.

There shopping is good here. I go to E-mart at least every weekend. It's a large department store with lots of home furnishings, clothing and food, near Gojan station. There's a Home Plus nearby Handae-ab Station. Handae-ab is a cool place to check a movie, eat dinner, hang out and be seen.

There are numerous parks. My girlfriend go to Daebu-do and rollerblade on the roadway crossing the ocean to the island.

Gojan is a large sprawling area with new high-rises and retail going up all over. This is where the E-mart is located and Lake Park, a large modern park being built.

Ansan is either on or near the subway line, a 15 minute or so ride to Suwon and thusly is accessable to Seoul.

I work on a college campus and the food is super cheap around here because of the college population. The cost of living here is probably less than Seoul.

Did I mention that the pollution isn't bad at all much less noticeable.

Ansan sounds like a more isolated version of Bucheon. So if you want to be close to the sea, Ansan. If you want to be close to seoul, bucheon. If you want clean air, neither .

Thanks to everybody who had info about Ansan. I'm slated to arrive in about two weeks, give or take. Nice to know there are spots to go skating, as I'm bringing my blades.

I did come up with a few more questions.

1. Is there an express bus that runs to/from Seoul? If so, where in Seoul does it stop? (This may be important if trains don't run all the way to Ansan that often.)

2. Barring that, how much is a cab from Seoul?

3. How many screens does the movie theater have?

4. (repeat question) Has anybody ever heard of an institute called HanDD or Handdut? I'm told it's more of a HS/university exam prep institute than the standard hagwon.

30 minutes from the sea? What sea? Tell me how to get there. How come no one I know talks about the sea being 30 minutes away? Is it a real beach or just a place to go look at the sea?

PLus,in my opinion, Ansan is pretty darn boring for a university area. Most university areas are hopping, like the Hongdae area. This Handae area sucks. Old man/woman hofs, a few restaurants,that's it. I have to go to Seoul every weekend just to have some decent fun. Maybe Ansan is OK if you are old with a bunch of kids or retired.
