Just found the sixth verse of God Save The Queen. No wonder this verse isn't used any more!

6. Lord grant that Marshal Wade
May by thy mighty aid
Victory bring.
May he sedition hush,
And like a torrent rush,
Rebellious Scots to crush.
God save the King!

Yeah. That's the one Billy Connolly like to quote. Understandably.

Here is a stanza in "Oh, Susannah!" which we don't hear very often:

I jumped aboard de telegraph, and travelled down de ribber,
De 'lectric fluid magnified, and killed five hundred nigger.
De bullgine bust, de horse runs off, I really thought I'd die;
I shut my eyes to hold my breath: Susanna, don't you cry.

I wonder why!

History gets re-written all the time...I've tried to find the full lyrics to "The Maple Leaf Forever" which was Canada's first National Anthem before the Pearson era....

In any case, there are originally 4 stanzas...All you can find nowadays are 3 stanzas, but the original 3rd one was about how Wolfe crushed Montcalm and the french forces under his heel at the plains of abraham. I remember having a book with those lyrics when I was young.

In any case...partriots aren't allowed to be patriotic anymore if they are british....because we all know how bad the imperialist brits were.
