When getting a new job, who should pay for the visa run?
I am wondering because the standard contract here always say they will pay for your flight either to or from Korea, or both ways. But what if you are already here and are planning to stay longer? Shouldn't the visa run count for that?
Should your new job pay for the visa run, your old job, or you?
Any ideas, advice, or experiences would be appreciated....
Thanks! |

Your old school should pay you for the cost of the ticket home.
If you are changing jobs and require a visa run, your new school should pay the cost of the visa run.
Make sure that you negotiate the full cost of the visa run and NOT just the airfare. You will be required to spend a night in Japan when you do your run. The school should pay for it.
If you are staying with the same employer, then you do not need a visa run, just an extension / renewal. Visit your immigration office with your new contract, business registration and your ARC. Bring your passport if you want/require a new re-entry permit and get it at the same time (save you the hassle of doing it later). |
