I'm applying for a Fulbright scholarship. Basically it's a scholarship that the government gives out to people who have interests in pursuing projects in a foreign country. Korea has 10 Fulbright full grants that let people go and pursue a project there for 10 months. I'm hoping to get one! The thing is that on top of the project proposal, I need to find an affiliation, basically a company or a person in Korea who has an interested in my project. Finding this affiliation feels impossible to me but I feel I know enough people who have contacts in Korea to help me out.
Here's the summery of my interest in coming to Korea and a brief explanation of the project I want to further develop. Send this to anyone you think might be interested in watching me develop this project and hopefully I can make this affiliation!

My name is Brendan Coyle and I'm a recent college graduate from the Maryland Institute College of Art. I am a computer 3d artist who has created an animated learning game designed to teach Korean language and culture to English speaking game players. My goal as a Fulbrighter is to get new materials to further develop this game, and possibly create new games. The experiences I have in Korea will be translated into game scenarios for others to experience through the game. I hope to create an affiliation, a way of being connected to a company or a person while in Seoul to share my project with and get feedback as I progress. You can see the prototype of what I finished my senior year here -- www.brendancoyle.com/mapojib
thanks,
- Brendan

Any help is appreciated
Yours truly,

I am sure this super awesome project is exactly what the senator had in mind.
Totally killer dude.
I think you should be looking for an affiliation with the Seoul National University front gate left PC Bang.

This is episode 05 of the Korean Learning Through
Experience series. In this episode, David and Mike meet up and decide to grab a bite to eat at the popular Mapojib BBQ restaurant. Players will get to see and listen to the type of converstation that happens within going in and ordering food at a Korean restuarant. |
And work on your editing skills before submitting your application. |

I got an e-mail from this guy too. He should find a company that specialises in Internet spam. |

ouch.
You guys are rough. I guess I just thought this one was one of a few places I would find support with a project dealing with Korea. I know my writing isn't the best but I really have a passion for applying my art skills towards something beneficial like learning a language. I thought someone here might find it interesting.
Sorry. |

Don't mind them. Flotsam's just a sad and pathetic individual who has nothing positive to say.
Seriously, flotsam, what the hells going on?
Why you gotta be like that?
The guy took the time to sign on to this message board to ask a few questions and you act like a total azzhole.
Would you talk this way to him in real life? Or do you have this other persona behind a computer screen in which you feel it's ok to be rude and inconsiterate to anybody you feel like.
I hate you "internet tough guys" who act all high and mighty behind a computer screen. Really, it's pathetic. I'd like to see you act this way in real life without the protection of a computer screen.
But I doubt you would. Flotsam, you're are a joke and the kind of person who ruin the civility of internet message boards. |

My question is, why would anyone living outside of Korea be interested in learning about the language and culture? This is not excatly a popular tourist spot, except for other Asian countries. Let's see...Sejong invented Hangul, Sushin "invented" turtle ships, and Korea produced the first sundial. Oh...but wait, there's kimchi.
Serious, dude, are you going to teach about the rampant prostitution, the male chauvinistic society and the Korean media's animosity towards foreigners? |

I suppose you sense the irony, yes?
Fear not though: my shoulder is always available for you to cry on--knowing that others are smarter than you hurts, I guess. I'm here for you, man.
(See? I'm am not that inconsiterate after all; not a person who ruin stuff.) |

I was aware of the irony right after I posted and re-read my post.
Felt kind of dumb about it.
But I still don't understand why you and many on this board act this way while on Daves. The guy was asking for some advice and you treat him like a child.
Are you this way in real life? |
