After not working out for a while as I've been sick, I overdid it yesterday and really hurt my abs. Feels like they've been ripped apart by knives anytime i move!
Anyone got any remedies apart from the green sticky things? |

On the other hand, Tyler Durden was already a six-pack-having babe magnet. |

Biofreeze -- but I got it from home.
Maybe tiger balm?
Of course, drinking lots of water...
Or, if you can bear it...more sit-ups...
Ouch! The knives feeling...I feel for you! |

The only suggestion I can give is keep going. Don't stop it will last longer and it will be more painful. Keep that area active just don't go overboard.
No Pain No Gain. |

I usually keep reasonably active (go to the gym 5-6 times a week) with some ab workouts each time. But had a slow week last week due to recovering from food poisioning = ouch! |

No pain, no gain.
You should be allright in a few days. I felt like that too when I really started working my abs hard a while back. Fighting! |

feeling a lot better today.. I do think that you need to be careful with no pain, no gain as it can lead to serious injury. A dull ache is fine, but if you are in serious pain your body is telling you something. |

Lemongirl, the pain you have to watch for is the pain that you feel while you are still working out. But, with experience, you'll be able to tell when you're about to pull a muscle.
I just started weight training again yesterday after several months of rest (developped chronic joint pain and only discovered recently that glucosamine totally numbs the pain...'life changing' is how I'd describe the supplement). Usually takes me 36h or so to notice any muscle soreness and 36 more for it to go away. I probably won't be able to move a finger tonight. |
