I have some strong feelings about Bush's record in government, but even apart from all that, what's so awful about implying that Bush isn't that smart? He's from a very powerful family, and it's not a big stretch to imagine that he didn't *need* tremendous grades to be admitted or graduate from an elite school.
Canadians seem to have a very different attitude toward politics, and politicians in particular. We mock our own leaders mercilessly. We're highly suspicious of them, and rarely support them wholeheartedly. In my opinion, we tend to choose the lesser of two evils during elections, and inevitably turn on whoever is in power.
It seems to me that Americans are more protective of their "commander-in-chief" but I would urge them not to take it so personally. We just don't like politicians. |

Indeed.
There are more Bush-hating Americans than there are citizens of Canada. |

| Great ad, though like with Hitler, we'll probably always be wondering about the extent to which Bush was a clever manipulator or a useful idiot. |

I read this article on it:
http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/story/CTVNews/20060829/lakehead_campaign_060829/20060829?hub=TopStories
And I thought to myself when did we (Canadians) lose our sense of humour? The idiot student union president at the Uni is the exact reason why most people DON'T participate in student government. Again, students are as guilty as others (the government, faculty, administration) in making sure that students today have as LITTLE FUN AS POSSIBLE! People like her are the ones that remove bars and pubs to build vegan, organic, lesbian eskimo eateries that three people use. God I hate Uni politicians! |

Thanks mith.
Our friends keep saying, "Why are you going to South Korea? Isn't it dangerous? I mean, that guy in North Korea...."
My reply: "Kim Jong Il's got nothing on Bush."
George Bush's America is not the place for my husband and I.... because, you know, we're against illegal wars, in favor of free speech and we don't hate muslims.
Call me crazy... but I feel like instead of invading a country that had NOTHING to do with 9/11 we should have, oh you know, put our energy into capturing Bin Laden...
Best news of recent days:
Bush rep said that if George Bush Senior had taken Baghdad during the first Gulf War 9/11 would not have happened.
What? Huh? Now Bush is blaming his dad? Is there anything this douche won't sink too? |

What's more,.... the message is true: "Graduating from an Ivy League university doesn't necessarily mean you're smart." And Bush IS a clear example.
And making criticisms of authority figures is part of what university is supposed to be all about.
Brilliant campaign. |
The reason Canadians in their 30's and 40's don't like Bush is because he is the political heir (and son of one) Presidents who were good friends with Brian Mulroney. Need I say more? |

As I mentioned in my other post, yes. I think he's a helluva lot smarter than he leads on. It's a disarming tactic. It's easier to accept that he's an idiot who leads bad policy decisions than to confront the evil he represents. |
You can't be serious. The world is doing both.
Anyway, i thought this would be a good thread to reveal this....

President Bush 'assassinated' in new TV docudrama
Held up by a secret service bodyguard in his dying moments after being shot in the stomach, this is President Bush being assassinated.
Surrounded by a crowd of panicking onlookers, the American leader is pictured just seconds after being gunned down by a sniper following an anti-war demonstration.
But rather than a repeat of JFK's shooting or Ronald Reagan's attempted assassination, this shocking image is part of a new Channel Four show.
The dramatic scene, which has caused outrage among Americans, has been created by a British film company for a programme about the effect of the War On Terror.
In Death Of A President, which will premiere at the Toronto Film Festival later this month (SEPT)before being shown on Channel 4's satellite channel More4 in October, the assassination is a starting point for a retrospective fictional documentary about what happened next.
This scene, which was created by putting the President's face onto an actor with digital wizardry, shows him being gunned down just hours after driving past an anti-war demonstration while doing a talk in Chicago. |

Canadians bash Bush? So what? Who doesn't bash Bush? He's a monkey!!! The most powerful nation on Earth elected a monkey for president. Twice!!He has proved his stupidity on so many occasions that I have become an avid watcher of CNN. Just to listen to him speak and marvel at his stupidity and chuckle at his latest gaffe.
Does anyone really think George W. Bush is a smart and competent man? |
Bush jr was only elected once. The second time. The first time can hardly be called an election. And he is an idiot! And dangerous. And the single biggest threat to world peace because of the aforementioned.
Three cheers to Lakehead U for a geat recruitment idea. |

I love Bush in all forms.
MMMM Bush...
Now to get my mind out of the gutter, I realy love President Bush. He is the greatest thing that has happened to Canada since The liberal government colapse. Sure you all canucks hate him but why?
He has done great things for Canada. Since the begining of War on Terror, Canada finnaly invested into the Military. Since the Iraq war he has created a HUGE demand for Canadian OIL. He is effectively making Canada rich. Hell my parents new business has tripled profits since last year. I am very happy for them and they know that they wouldn't be in this position if it wasn't for good ole' Bush. As an economics major I see Bush as positive influence for the Canadian economy. GO BUSH, I would vote for you if I could. Unfortunatley to0 many of the expats here are liberals.
Liberal:
Nouun: A person so open-minded their brains have fallen out.
Oh as far as the IVY school thing goes, this was no secret. I remember when UofA hosted and IBM programing competition and beat MIT, Stanford, heck Harvord (spelling might be off) didn't even finish. |

Either you are writing with some degree of humor, or you didn't study very well. Inflating oil prices are hardly good for the Canadian economy, and once the American economy begins to tank under the pressure of these prices (as it is showing signs of right now), guess who will be dragged down with it. |

| Bush is just a puppet anyway. The think tanks in America have more power in what America does than he. He's just along for the ride. |

One humorous recruitment poster at a minor-league university in central Canada doth not a nation of Bush-haters make.

Speak for yourself Van. I couldn't stand Clinton either. In fact, I prefer George W and, yes, I am Canadian. |
