Who wants to meet up next Saturday? September 9th.
I propose 8 pm at Shooters Bar and Grill in Hongdae.
SHOOTERS AND COCK BAR & GRILL
Pints of Guinness for 6,900 (had one tonight - delicious!). Regular cheapo bottles of beer are 2,300 won.. thats Cass, Hite, OB, whatever else. (Of course many other beer/drinks are available too).
It has an OUTDOOR Patio that goes in and out of the regular bar.. there is also a long bar.. and tables inside and out. In addition, there is a bar upstairs (ice bar setup) but with the same menu.. so that means additional space if its too crowded for some reason. In addition, there is a downstair bar (which I didn't check out).. but will assume its basically just more space if things spill out too much.
Okay.. best yet.. its SUPER EASY to find. Basically get out of Hongik Station (green line).. and EXIT #6. (KFC is right there too I believe).
As soon as you exit you'll see an alley with tents and such.. you'll see Lemon PC, Coffee Bean, Coffee Brown.. they are lined up on the right side of that alley. Just go directly down that alley to you see buildings where you can't go any further. That will be KTF (phone shop) which is directly straight ahead.. you'll also see a SK Telecom right there. Once you are between those two phone shops.. you'll look down that alley to the right.. and *BAM* you'll see SHOOTERS & COCKS in gold letters on a yellow building. There is even a video machine for card games in there (I got the top 6 'Gin Rummy' scores now while I was drinking my Guinness - oh yeah!).
Even best of all.. if people are hungry.. once you go Shooters & *beep*.. you can continue to the next corner street and take a right and there is Margaritas Mexican food with fajitas, burritos, and enchiladas - ideal for those who didn't get a chance to eat or want to get away for a few to get something to eat.
All around a good deal I believe. Someone else go check it out.. let us know what you think about that.
Your erstwhile poster Swiss James will be the guest of honour (you know he's slumming it in China these days so he needs a little high life).
Express your interest.

Funny that. I was gonna suggest a beer or two as well 'coz everyone I knew from my last stint in Korea ran away screaming during my hiatus.
Good that someone else has suggested it before I did though, as I'm still far too much of a Dave's newb to request a meet 'n' drink.
How do we know who's there from Dave's though? Last time I went to a gathering, there were quite a few foreigners who were innocent bystanders:
Me: "Hi there, I'm DodgyBarnet. So you here with the Dave's lot then?"
Them: "Dave who?"
Me: "Er... The website thingy..."
Them: "Like dating? You looking for a guy called Dave?"
Me: "This isn't quite what I had in mind..."
Any thoughts? |

| I've never met Swiss James, but I'd be up for another gathering... so I'm in. |

I knew there was another thread about meeting this month but couldn't find it.
I'd be in. |

Just an observation....when I was there (at Shooters) a few weeks ago the place was quite busy at 11 pm. We would want to make sure we got there early and established a presence before it fills up. I guess I'm in with a hidden bottle of the German stuff (the staff were not pleased to see my bottle)
By the way, Qinella, if you read this, I owe you a beer or two as I imagine you tried to call me later that night but I didn't hear my phone and don't have caller ID. My bad. |

| I'm up for it, but can't stay late. I have a flight out early the next morning for a week's vacation. |

Actually I only had 5,000 won and the ATM wouldn't let me take money out, so I couldn't even afford a taxi. Was too pissed to call you back.
As for this thing on Saturday, is there going to be any *beep*? |

Big maybe. Might drop in for a bit.
I will *not* be the rambuncious, overenergetic drunk that I was at that other one. |

Qinella, *beeps* are mandatory, didn't you know?
Depends on which *beep* you were referring to, however. |

| I might stop by again for an hour-or-so earlier in the evening just to sign autographs, etc. I might sneak in a couple bottles of non-alcoholic beer they sell at SM Ching hai's ... Combined with the alcohol fumes emitted by drunk people breathing near me it'd be more than enough to get me high... |

Will people actually be there at 8pm? I have no desire to stay past the last train home and either drink until 5 am or take a taxi to Incheon. But Mexican food and a few Guini would be worth a trip into Seoul. |
