Is there anyone out there who knows of some fun stuff to do in Tokyo.

I'm going to visit a friend there in a week and he got a job now so during the weekdays I'll have four days to myself (leaving Friday).

I'm thinking of checking out some gaijin hangouts on my first day to learn something about getting around in Tokyo and get the scoop on the ESL teaching there.

The next few days I'd like to go to places where it'll be easy to meet some japanese people and hopefully I'll be able to find someone else who is on vacation like me and willing to travel around with a Canadian.

I've never been to Japan before and I'm expecting to get totally lost but it'll be that much more exciting. Though, with a friend who knows the turf or can at least read the language hopefully I won't waste as much time doing hunting around for things.

If anyone has any ideas please let me know.
(places to meet pretty women are always welcome!)

However, AVOID a Japanese girl with blonde curly hair named "Risa".

She will empty your wallet while you shower, and disappear.

Yes, I did catch her. And yes, she got her dues. She hangs out in both GasPanics and a bar run by Nigerians (don't remember the name of it though)..both in the same area...

well if you want to hook up with expats, you better RAPONGI!
thats the itaewon of tokyo, less the clothes..

so what can you do, well first of all, DISNEYLAND!!
thats a cool day or two right there...

the toyota showroom is awesome if your into cars.. can drive the cars too and play vr games, real cool, its right next to the Biggest ferriswheel in ASIA! so just ask for that!! its real big man, scarry!!
not to mention the hour and half que hahahaha..
GINZA, the rodeo street of JAPAN, and no not apkujeong style, this is real money and wealth here, very rich, very modern, ver stylish! except for all the homeless people that take shelter there at midnight.. hahahaha
SHIBUYA! cool drinking place, many funky bars, clubs cafe, great shopping real trendy a must see. also pretty famous for after hours adult entertainment..
then we come to SHINJIKU.. very famous the most famous hang out for locals, the busiest starbucks in the world is right there! that is the fmous intersection you might see in magazines or tv adds, well thats the place to be eye shopping, people watching.. its cool funky and thats TOKYO!

Hey Thanks a lot Itaewon guy.
I'll be sure to be in a few of those places.

I'm also wondering where I could go to find a travelling partner.
I'm thinking the university would be the best bet but other than that I have no idea. I'll give Roppongi a shot too and see what they say there.
Is there any specific place you recommend in that district?
I think it would be a lot more fun to visit all those places with somebody than all by myself.

well mate..
I think rapongi can go either way, LOVE OR HATE or just have to tolerate on some nights.. you will understand what I mean,, first few times its cool, then once you became a regular , you understand it can suck at times.. so thats why SHUBUYA and shinkuju are cool!!

Hi-

I would suggest going to Ueno Station. There are a bunch of museums, which are all very cool, and the Tokyo museum has an amazing permanent collection of Rodin's

Plus seeing the make-shift community of the homeless is something that I found very bizarre.

I also vote for Toyota world, and the ferris wheel.

The Sony building is pretty cool also, go and check out the new games for PS2.

Get lost in the back streets. You may get very lost, but you are never really that far from where you started.

The twists and turns are what makes a trip a trip.
