In each of our classrooms, we have Korean 2000 installed on our computers....Only the administrator can download programs or upgrade programs or do any of the fun things which I'm not allowed to do.
If I bring my version of Windows XP to school and install it, do you think it'll mess anything up? Will I be able to be the administrator then? |

You'll be able to do everything locally on your computer as the admin login. You may NOT be able to access the internet (depending on the network settings) and depending on whether or not you have the CD with the motherboard and other hardware drivers (these are usually type specific and not found on the windows CD), you may not get the computer to work beyond a basic "SAFE" type install. |

You can't install Windows XP Home "over" Windows 2000. You'd have to format the hard drive and lose all of your programs, settings, etc. You can install XP Professional "over" 2000 and keep everything, but, as previous people have mentioned, it might be a pain to get everything working smoothly again with Internet access, drivers, etc., and you'd undoubtedly be violating IT rules. |
