My E-2 visa expires like a week before I'm planning to leave (on the ferry to Tainjin). Can anyone think of a reason why this might be problematic? I hear I can go to immigration and get an extension, but if I don't need to, there are infinite better uses of the time... Thanks all.

The date on your ARC card is the date you must leave by. Not the date in your passport.

If you and your school go to immigration together to officially cancel the visa, they will give you an "exit order" that gives you up to 2 weeks to leave korea, more than enough time to catch the ferry to China...

Yeah, that's what I meant by going to immigration. Apparently I can do it without my school. I'm just trying to save those hours.

No, you can't cancel the Visa without being accompanied by the school. You can easily extend your visa by yourself, though. Fill out a form. I can't remember if there was a fee, tho.

You can extend it by yourself, but you can't cancel it by yourself.
I did it several times and I was always told to go back and bring a representative from the school.
