perhaps dave was too genuinely american for them, god i miss the spicy chicken sandwiches.

i'd like to start a jamba juice here and a panera bread (only in the midwest usa)... i think those will do well in seoul.

A new Walmart opened up in Daegu this year - and was still there last week. Maybe it was just one bad location.

Everything on that list is a fast-food franchise.

Nokia
Nestle's
Google
Bestfoods

There was a thread on this same topic recently. Was it mindmetoo who started that one? It was fairly extensive.

when is Carrefore going? the one at World Cup Stadium's still there and always packed out. I'll miss that, because their sushi is killer and it's generally excellent.

i'd like to start a jamba juice here and a panera bread (only in the midwest usa)... i think those will do well in seoul.

Panera? I dunno- people here aren't into funky sandwiches, like turkey, proscuitto (sp?), rye bread... I also wonder how the pizzas would go down- they're similar to Schlotsky's pizzas, and Schlotsky's failed here, so I figure if Schlotsky's failed, so will Panera. Jamba juice would do well, I think~

My husband likes Wendy's. I think Koreans would dig the Frosty's, and the salad bar. I wonder what happened- maybe their timing wasn't right when they entered the Korean market. I saw a Wendy's in Fukuoka. If they do well in Japan, you'd think they'd do well in Korea...

I wonder if these companies try their products out on a Korean focus group first. You'd think they would, but I wonder.

I think Olive Garden would do well here, but it's hard to say....

ive been to many bakeries in korea where they serve very odd sandwiches, perhaps panera can koreanize theirs to suit the country.

olive garden will do well i think - people here will have to adapt to real soups though

Wendy's did not fail in Korea.
The company that owned the franchise rights decided, during the IMF crisis days, to stop paying. Wendy's sued saying they couldn't use their name. So the company changed it's name to Winners and kept all the W logos but changed some of the menu.
But haven't seen Winners around so maybe it did go under eventually.

interesting that krispy kreme seems so popular here when the actual company is in a world of trouble.
