So I am going to begin teaching on Thursday and basically I can teach whatever I want. However, I'm unsure how to approach the students. I teach middle school so they do know a bit of English. Basically for the first day of classes I sort of decided to use for all three levels of English speakers the same Lesson plan. Getting to know the students by playing the toilet paper ice breaker game sort of idea. Tell them about myself, and than break them into groups where they will come up with group names and will stay in those groups for the rest of the term. Anyone want to give me suggestions on improvements or changing it up a bit? Is it a good idea to use the same lesson plan for all 21 classes? Should I be getting them to make up class room rules or just let me tell them what I want?
As well what about the second class? What should I do than? |

The die hard teachers might tell you that the first impression will last you a yeartime
So let them be sure that you mean business, do not slack off the first class and keep a tight ship.
Once you have established control you can let go of the leesh and let them be more themselves.
If they think you are a easy target, they will abuse any weakness. |
