Mainstream korean opinion of people who are outside of their race is quite frankly appalling from a variety of perspectives. and before anyone replies with 'yeah but its the same all over the world' well possibly it is but not to the extent that it is in Korea or with koreans.
Anyone that would willingly of their volition disown their child for entering into a consensual relationship with someone of another race shouldnt be having children. i can readliy understand objections but disown....
i also think Dogbert is spot on. I think ive learned a lot more about what these people think of foerigners watching and knowing them in london then i did in korea |

Yeah, they are hotheaded, a lot of Koreans, and among friends I have known to marry Koreans quite a few fathers threatened to disown their children, but I have never known this to be a permanent state. They eventually calm down as you should. People write themselves up into such a tizzy on this board, it simply isn't cyber sanctuary here^^ |

That sucks. My girlfriend's father plans to buy us a house if we get married, and possibly design and build it (he's an architect). Hell, his parents always tell her to get me a small gift if we go out or whatever. If that's a way of disowning somebody, it's new to me (and NO she's not ugly by any means).
I think a lot of the "Her family will disown her" stuff is perpetuated by guys who don't want you to be happy with your newfound love. Yes, there are some fathers who may do that, but in my experience it was always my girlfriends' parents that wanted to meet me, but me who avoided that situation to avoid being locked into something prematurely! |

Hey are you blaming me?
Actually, the confrontationality seems to permeate the internet, anywhere where one is safe, anonymous, and spouting out opinions, and if you disagree with me, you can just go F--- yrself, loser!

Maybe it is also a result of all the PC in the west. People have to come here to be confrontational since they cannot do it face to face.

| However, a stable, educated Korean woman will not dishonor her family and marry outside for a green card. If she does, her family and name sake probably isn't very strong nor stable. |
Or maybe she has just became tired of all the Korean crap. Does not bending over and doing everything your family says make your family weak? If it does then Koreans need to stop treating their adult children like 5 year olds.
Simple as this, some Koreans have learned or believe that living in the west is better. That may be true or not. It does not matter. Simply there are reasons why many Koreans want to leave. Actually the more educated women are the ones more likely to want out than the non-educated women. Furthermore Korean women are no different than some foreigners who come to Asia because they are tired of their country. Unless you are in a poor country like Thailand, usually the poor people are not the ones that want to leave. |
