I stuck it out another month and have a more detailed paysheet to present to you this month:
Salary: 2,100,000
Tax: 71,400
Pension: 47,700
Medical Insurance: 22,610
Unemployment Insurance: 9,450
Apartment Deposit: 200,000
Maintenance Charge of Apartment: 171,310
Net pay: 1,577,530
The following was included in the "Maintenance Charge of Apartment":
The maintenance fee itself: 87,120
Electricity for my personal apartment: 72,660
Electricity for the building, the elevator, the toilet for the restaurant in the lobby: 4,440
Water: 7,090
An additional expense not listed on the paysheet was a 23,000 gas bill. |

This seems high to me.
I could be wrong however. |

That doesn't really make much sense.
Salary: 2,100,000
Tax: 71,400 way to high... can't find the site but should be around 25-30,000
Pension: 47,700 way too low, should be up about 98,000
Medical Insurance: 22,610 way too low, should be about 47,000
Unemployment Insurance: 9,450 never seen this
Apartment Deposit: 200,000
Maintenance Charge of Apartment: 171,310 That's about right for August. It's high because of your electricity use, which I'm assuming means you have an A/C. This will go down later
Net pay: 1,577,530 |

Salary: 2,100,000
Tax: 71,400 should be exactly 33,430
Pension: 47,700 should be 95,400
Medical Insurance: 22,610 should be 47,040
Unemployment Insurance: 9,450 you shouldnt be paying
Apartment Deposit: 200,000 say no to deposits they are illegal
Maintenance Charge of Apartment: 171,310 VERY HIGH>>>>unless they are keeping that place spic and span I would say too high(is it a 3 bedroom apt?)
Net pay: 1,577,530

The bills should be going to you....not the school....you should take care of your own bills....I know of one school that gave their teacher a copy of their apartment bill and deducted that amount....they lived in a large 3 bedroom apartment...the teacher had a very small apartment...turned out the difference was 150,000 won a month! |

Somthing is definately wrong as explained above and more. Based on irregularity of highs and lows on each deductions as opposed to correct amount that should be deducted, I would suspect that your school just threw those number together without any logical and legal thoughts.
If I were you I would ask for all evidance, i.e. receipts for your bills, check to see if they are paying into your medical, tax office, unemployment (I think you don't need this taxed if you have E-2 visa). I suspect this because they are deducting the "Apartment Deposit = 200,000." (It must be pretty shady school for deducting this deposit). |

I agree with Grotto that the bils should be going directly to you, and not through the school, but I don't agree that your maintenance bill is too high. I've lived in two officetels and in both cases that was about the price for the regular monthly expenses, whereas the electricity changed from our own use, being highest in summer because of the A/C.
Either way, there is not reason for the bill to go to your school. It should arrive in your mailbox at your appartment like it does for everyone else in your building. |

I live in a studio apartment near the Gangdong subway station. I think the apartment is nice for a studio apartment, but it's just one room. A co-worker said this is a really nice part of town, and that's why my bills are high. However, my milf said it looked too high, and she lives in a really pimp apartment on a street with a Rolls Royce dealership and Prada, Louis Vuitton, Armani, and Gucci stores. The only thing on mine are 53 hostess bars, two or three restaurants, a grocery store, a motorcycle repair shop, two love motels, some convenience stores, and the school. I'm not saying I live in a bad part of town, I'm just saying I've seen other areas that look much more upscale.
I wasn't surprised to see another high apartment maintenance fee this month. I expected it this time. What was surprising is that it jumped from around 114,000 to 171,000. |

Do you work for the SLP out that way? This sounds like the thief of a boss that I had. Same shady kind of numbers (and he never paid into anything for his other staff - I quit after a very short time). |

I don't know anything about SLP.
I'm going to be more cost-conscious about electricity and gas this month and see if it helps any. Since I'm paying for the toilet in the restaurant, I guess I'll always use it too. That'll save some on the water. |

That might have been maintenance for July, so you might not notice a change for another month or so.... |

You may be right. I hadn't thought about that. The good news is that, according to my boss, the apartment manager has been going into my apartment when I'm at work to turn off anything using electricity. Although I wish I had been consulted first about entry without my knowledge, I'm game for anything that saves a few bucks. I'm going to leave my A/C off no matter what and put a reminder on the inside of my door to turn off the water heater and lights before I leave. |

can you say illegal entry?
Invasion of privacy?
The only time they are allowed to enter you apartment is in an emergency or when asked to by the authorities.
Change your locks! |
