Hi, I ma in the process of FeDexing (if that is a word) my documents over to Korea for their examination in order to secure a visa number. my school have asked for ' a copy of my passport'. each time I ask if they meant the original or a photocopy they just use the same line 'a copy of my passport'. this can be interpreted in two ways- my original is a copy of my passport as is photocopy. Could someone put me straight on this?
THANKS |

There's no need to send them you passport! Just a photocopy will do! Who knows what'll happen to your passport in the Korean postal system! You may never see it again... |

What do you think "a copy of your passport" means exactly? It should mean you take your passport to a copier, put it in there and get a paper copy. Then you mail the paper copy, not the passport.
I don't understand how you could misunderstand something so simple.
Don't ever let your passport get out of your hands, and especially don't mail it! How in the hell would you be able to get on the international flight much less get in the country without it? |

Buy a small diary and copy all of the stuff that is currently in your passport. Paint the covers and make it look as much like your original passport as possible. |

To the OP;
You really don't seem to be ready to come and live in a foreign country. |

Dear Original Poster,
I think you had better study English a bit more before you consider teaching it.
Love,

Send your original passport. I'm sure you will get it back when you arrive at your new school. |

Thanks for your help, I just thought that immigration needed the original and after examination this might have been sent back before left. It seems that these forums are good place for unassertive people to voice an opinion without ever having the discomfort of leaving there PC and doing it personally. |

Hey, I spent two weeks beside a pot of coffee copying my passport using coloured pencils and crayons until sending it to some 12th Century monks skilled in the art of calligraphy. That did the trick. |

Did you sling shot around the sun to get to the 12th Century?
Seriously though I'd Photocopy it to be safe. Passports cost more money than a copy. I'd rather risk losing $0.08 than $100. |

You really should read the interior of your passport.
Its not yours to send where you want...it belongs to your government. I am pretty sure that Homeland security would love to have a little chat with you about shipping out your passport.
RULE #1. When dealing with Koreans NEVER send any original documents(unless you dont care if you get them back or what condition they are in) |
