DISCLAIMER: I tried the search, didn't get the answers I'm looking for Wink

One of the teachers is getting married and I have been invited. I asked another teacher what I have to do, and her English is pretty good, but I have some questions.

1) Is the present between 30000 and 50000 won? In japan, it was about 30000 YEN Shocked

2) I got an invitation. Do I need to make a formal reply?

3) Is there a special envelope for the present money

4) Well, anything else you might want to tell me. I went to a wedding in Korea once, but as the guest of a guest who was just an aquaintance.

1. If you don't know her that well 30,000-50,000 would be fine.

2. They don't have RSVP. Just show up.

3. Just put the money into a plain envelope. You give it to the people at the desk in front of the ceremony. They record your name and the amount.

4. Korean weddings are pretty informal. People talk during the ceremony and sometimes head down to the banquet area before things are even finished. Banquets are usually equally informal. The manager or host just asks what wedding you are from and points you to the assigned tables. I have never seen the bride and groom at one of these (except for our wedding). After you are done eating, that is usually it. There is no program or dance.

Pay whatever you want to pay. Put your money in one of those envelopes you can buy at the stationary store. You write your name on it. So remember...if you are a cheap bastard her whole family will know.
If you are not that close...enough to cover the meal is fine.

Is it a Korean traditional wedding or the white dress fast food type wedding?

Don't be an ass. Dress up and wear a suit. She/he might want you in the wedding photo (one with family/one with friends/one with co-workers).

Say "chook ham ni da" to the mothers and fathers.
